Hi, I got an offer for a IT helpdesk role in an erp company, and it's the first time I'm actually told the cert that I have (aws cloud practitioner) actually had value and can help in increasing my pay. I was also told that I can transition into developer role if I wanted to.
So apparently the IT helpdesk role wasn't looked upon in a positive light in some of the western countries (mainly because of some IT illiterate people can get very nasty to deal/communicate with), wondering if anyone had been in such a role before
I don't have an IT degree, but have an interest towards the IT industry (both software and hardware). Saw from some opinion that IT helpdesk can help in kick-starting a career in IT.
Would love to hear from y'all who had been in the role in the past. Thanks!
if you're young, why not ? being in IT helpdesk, you learn soft skills, you learn to fix problem. So apparently the IT helpdesk role wasn't looked upon in a positive light in some of the western countries (mainly because of some IT illiterate people can get very nasty to deal/communicate with), wondering if anyone had been in such a role before

unless you have better choices to begin with.
i don't have a degree nor a diploma. only spm to begin with, but took the time to upskill myself with different Microsoft's certification. i moved from up from helpdesk across multiple roles like product enablement, technical pre-sales , solution architect and now a manager. some ppl might think it's a waste of time but learning from ground up let you see things in different perspective.
