just checking with the watch enthusiasts here biggrin.gif

is it normal for watch shops to sell the ones being displayed within the shop? although its wrapped properly, but im sure many other customers have tried it on or something.

rather than the fully sealed units

like for example, if you buy a phone, you go to the shop and play around with the demo, then you get a new sealed unit

does it work the same when it comes to watch purchases? hmm.gif hmm.gif

just wondering if i can request for a new sealed watch unit or it doesnt work that way and i should buy the ones displayed on the shelves?

edit: sorry forgot to add, its official shops like Tudor, Tissot, Tag Heuer, etc smile.gif , not some kedai ah chong jam tangan you see from pertama complex or sungei wang, etc

This reminds me that time I got my basic Seiko 5 (the cheapest model). They gave me the display unit. I forgot what was the reason but I think they said everytime sold they take a new one out. Very weird excuse.

Then later I say got box? They marah this one no box they all come in one big box with separate compartment for watch but not the more common individual box. We argued there in the end they gave some random box.

Not gonna return there. Luckily watch still works fine till today

Not official. Just some mom and pop shop. But frequently recommended in the forum. So just tried my luck going there.

But official they wouldn't and shouldn't screw around though.

i see

so far i've been to a few branches already, they always tell me the same thing. the ones they have are the ones its being displayed

went to a few because i was serious in getting one but i prefer it to be a sealed unit and not the ones being displayed.

maybe im not being firm enough? unsure.gif

Can be also. Need to push them for that especially if you're buying expensive one

Not unusual for me, but I might try and ask for a discount if buying a display model.

Also not a big deal for me, unless there’s visible marks/damage as a result of improper handling.

Before the high-end watch market went nuts, it was not uncommon to see the watch you want on display, go in to try it on, and pick it up there and then itself.

yeah... unless certain G Shock limited edition models... they have few stocks ( 1 or 2 units)
