Haha.

It's an easy task to upgrade the firmware. Your factory state is v1.5? Then, you better download to 2.0 firmware first. After that, its free to upgrade to v2.1.

Hi,

Hm, I'm not sure about this case. But I think you better copy the firmware file first and just copy it to your new computer. In any case that you'll need to restore to v2.1 back, just hold Shift and click restore. Choose the firmware 2.1 file.

To locate your firmware files downloaded via Itunes is like this.

Go to

# In Mac OS X, the folder is

CODE
/Users/username/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates

# In Windows Vista, the folder is

CODE
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates

# In Windows XP and Windows 2000, the folder is

CODE
C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates

Cheers

Well if you bought a new computer, just download iTunes again and log in with your email. They have track on which apps or updates you purchase before.

So you don't need to buy again. iTunes will pop up a msg saying that you already purchase this and click OK to download again. Just click OK then it'll download a fresh copy of 2.1 FW for you.

Hi.

During my time in firmware 1.1.1 I used vWallpaper to allow the IpodTouch running a .wmv or .mp4 wallpaper. You can try searching in the installer for vwallpaper app. Since I've upgraded to 2.1 I'm not using it anymore, just plain background.

Cheers.

hey guys...i'm new to this ipod touch.hehehe
i got this first gen 16gb ipod touch.i bought it second hand from my friend.
i'm really2 interested in this jailbreaking.but before that,i need to check with the "veterans" here...does this jailbreaking will burn my warranty?it still has 6 months left on it.
i'm very particular about the warranty because i'm very reliant on it for any physical damage or internal problems that i can't fixed myself.

so does the jailbreaking burns my apple warranty?
thanks.

jailbreaking will void the warranty. but if you need warranty, you can also restore your ipod to its original state before submitting for warranty.

ow really?so all i need is just to restore it into its original condition ya?but wont they know about that?i mean the shop ppl wont find that i jailbroke the ipod?
also...have any of you guys extend the warranty after the original ones expires? i mean is it possible if the first one year warranty expires, then after a while can i apply for the one year warranty(the extended warranty)?

or do i have to extend it during the first one year?
