ever noticed the springboard.strings file is different in the itouch from the iphone - the file you posted on your first post is different by quite a bit...

I tried changing 'slide to unlock' and it worked just fine. Just worried the different string file will cause some problems unnoticed yet

You can change the Springboard strings within Customise. This beats editing the .strings file using a text editor.

could anyone tell me what is the host name to put in the winSCP

thanks string. Funny thing is that the customize i got didnt work well. I even dloaded themes for it to change batt icons but it didnt work

There is a Customise fix i did , from one of the posts in iPodtouchfans.com, cant really recall which thread. The Fix basically batches the Customise.app, and made it to work with the Touch. You may wanna refer it there, because IMO , the .strings edit using Customise is a much more elegant solution, with text entry ala settings entry in your iPhone. Your call.

another quick question...

i managed to set up the mail.app to fetch gmail for me but now i can't get back to the settings page. there's no button or any soft key to tap on... what gives?

Can Customize work together with Summerboard? Never tried.

If you did it as per the link i provided, the entries to set up Mail.app should be in the Setting screen.

In the host name field, simply enter the IP address of your iPod touch. Can find it under settings on your Touch, in the wi-fi section. Click on the blue arrow next to your network SSID for the details.

i got the settings page at first. no problem setting up gmail. but once set up, the mail app only brings me to the gmail mailbox with its inbox and trashcan. can't go back anymore to the settings page.

YEah, Mail works like that. Once set up, you dont have to mess with the settings anymore. Are you talking about setting a second or subsequent Gmail account on the Touch?

yeah, i wanna set up another POP mail account now. how do i get to the settings page? or let's say I wanna edit the settings for my Gmail. how do i do that?

and so on.....

To create another POP mail account, i'd go to Add Account-->Other, click the [POP] tab, and enter the details.

To edit an existing Gmail account info, tap the name of that account (mine's "GoogleMail") under the Accounts column, and edit away.

To add another Gmail account, tap "Add account" and follow the prompts onscreen.

Dont you have these?

oh damn... i didn't know those settings were in the Settings menu. I always thought they were in the mail.app.

No worries. I got into it quick because i've got the iPhone to mess with before the Touch, so jumping into Settings was instinctive. I'd reckon to new users that would take time adjusting.

my apollo made the touch hang after typing too fast.. lol

the apollo im is pretty unstable, there was 1 time yesterday i dc like 6-7 times in 10mins, my gf on msn was asking me what am i doin, login in and out

is there any websites wherby we could dll more applications for free and manually installing it into the TOUCH

I seldom use Apollo now, seeing that there are other web-based apps that can do better. They are Meebo and Beejive. Try them on at www.meebo.com and iphone.beejive.com respectively.

BEEJIVE is great, as long as the connection is good
