It should by right saved to Photos and would appear the next time u sync your iPod. But i didn't get that. So what i do is i FTP into the iPod, go to Media -> DCIM -> APPLE 100. All your screenshots go here. Right click on the file, and click Open. WinSCP should be giving you a warning now but just click OK to dismiss it. When your screenshot open up, right click on it and click copy. Paste it anywhere you want to. So there you go, your screenshot. There is a way to do this using SSH but i thought this is even easier for me LOL.

I hope u get what i mean. i wanted to include some screenie for you but my ipod cable is in the room and my grandparents are sleeping so i didn't want to bother. LOLx.

I'm afraid that you'll need to have a wi-fi connection to be able to do that. Even installing an application would require a wi-fi connection.

BLUECHIP: Time to post up some photos!

Honestly, I still chicken out to jailbreak mine. Btw, from the installer we can find, download and install right away apps from the iPhone? You know, all those Maps/Stocks/Weather/Mail/Notes/etc.

Does it necessary to install Summerboard thing? All I want was just to add some of the iPhone apps, that's it.

After jailbreaking, the iPhone applications (if I'm not mistaken) aren't available from the Installer App. You're supposed to install them manually by copy and paste via FTP. You have to download the applications and then manually replace the folders into your iPod Touch and then setting the correct permissions. Stringsfellow made a clear instruction on another thread. I suggest you give it a try.

The other 3rd party applications are all available from the Installer App. I think this is a brilliant idea in converging all the programs into one place for easy installation without the need of a PC.

I think you can skipped the Summerboard if you're not interested in the themes. But you need Summerboard when you install a lot of applications and running out of place for icons. In fact a lot of jailbreaking routines out there has integrated Summerboard installations in it. Try touchfree.

yes it was supposed to but in the event that it didn't create one for you, you'll have make one yourself. If i'm not wrong, the .MISC folder is a hidden folder? I don't have with me my sync cable so i couldn't check. But i have left the folder without changing any of its properties. it shouldn't matter whether it is set to the right permission or not as far as the screenshot thingy is concern. In fact, there are plenty of default files in the touch are in 0644 and they don't give any trouble. The basic rule is to set the permission to 0755 for new files that you copy over to your iPod.

just tried creating a folder, still doesnt seem to do anything when i use the screenshot function from the dock. might try to reinstall the application to see how it goes. and yes, the .MISC folder is a hidden folder and as far as i can see the 0755 is a recognised code for the ipod touch. nod.gif

*edit: reinstalling the applications doesn't manage to fix the problem lol shakehead.gif

Btw, the only thing the iTouch has to use WiFi connection is just to the website and crash it right? The rest that requires internet connection is our PC?

Added on October 20, 2007, 7:16 pmIs there any storage affect after jailbreaking/installing apps gonna take some space right?

yes to your first question, and no to your second one.

jailbreaking/installing apps hardly takes up any space, you probably won't notice a difference. im also pretty sure you're using an 8gb touch since space seems to be an issue that's bothering you but all i can say is, im sure that you won't regret it after having to go through the hassle. brows.gif

bluechip, i just got home to sync my iPod and i apologize for my earlier mistake. the folder you should create is 100APPLE (exact spelling and case). The structure is MEDIA/DCIM/100APPLE
Hope it will work for you now.

Dont know about you guys, but my screenshots goes to this directory :-

/private/var/root/Media/DCIM/100APPLE

Creating /Media/DCIM/100APPLE does nothing in depositing the screenshot into the folder. Whenever WinSCP logs me into the iPod Touch, it loads me up to /private/var/root.

All screenshots from Dock would go to 100APPLE folder. If it is absent, it is necessary to create one, manually. All the iPod touches would start at /private/var/root because that's root of iPod touch's directory. It is as if the 'My Computer' in Windows.

Yeah, i know that. But your words " The structure is MEDIA/DCIM/100APPLE" would imply creating subfolder 100APPLE within folder DCIM within folder MEDIA, from a "/" directory to start from. Clearing this up would help understanding it better.
