Hello Sifus,

My laptop has a literal virus in between the front glass and LED screen. I am not sure how to mold got into that area, but it’s spreading like wild fire.

It started off as a small dot 2 weeks ago, and now it’s as big as the attachment below.

I took it to an Apple service centre but they told me they can’t clean it. I got to change the whole LED.

Is there any way to just clean the thing or any services out there that can assist to clean it?

I know it’s an old laptop hence changing the entire LED would not make sense as it cost nearly 1k to change it.

Any thoughts?

Buy a broken MBP and swap the display assembly out. Should be cheaper than 1K and not difficult to do compared to removing the glass and ended up breaking it.

it actually is the layers of LCD detaching, happen to all LCD over time.

change the LCD or the entire device. >10 years, enough already lor

i dont think it is "dirty"

its the "loca" glue that sticks the outer glass to the lcd that is disintegrating (need more pics to confirm)

1. shops that repairs ipad glass only might be able do. but high chance also lcd will crack
2. what mac model is this?

if can read chinese, search from taobao.
i replace screens and battery packs for my son's macbook air. the price is at least half of what will be charged by local repair shops.

of course the cables and components are very sensitive, so follow the appropriate youtube videos accordingly...

Steve wants you to upgrade

Yeah I know it’s 2012, I have a 2016 and 2022 MacBook with me. But since it’s working fine, if can save it, can put it to good use.

But seems like many comments say it’s the glue detaching then I perhaps it’s time to retire this laptop then.

all lcd has polarizer film front n back... this is the glue breaking down/delaminating...

the polarizer films can be replaced...
