Hi working folks,
I have requested the financial controller to revise the mileage reimbursement. Currently, it is RM0.65/km.
But he is asking if I can provide him with the current rate and supportive document. bangwall.gif

So if you could share with me how much is your mileage claim rate and also a screenshot of the details, will be very helpful for me to request the increase. If your rate is below 0.65, you can simply ignore it console.gif

Fuhh. That is like cheating already. Anyway, is your claim for any field work or daily?

It is not easy to get more because Malaysia fuel price is relatively low at RM 2.05 per litre for Ron95. Imagine a salesperson 1 month drive more than 2000km and mileage claim is RM 0.65 it will be RM 1300. If full tank RM 120 can run 500km (RM 0.24 per KM), 1 month actual fuel cost is only RM 480. Reimbursement RM 1300 - RM 480 (fuel cost) you will still make RM 820. If you choose Myvi or Vios the actual fuel cast is even lower.

For normal car service interval is 10k km and during 10k km mileage claim you already make extra RM 4100. Even Merc 1 time normal service interval not more than RM 2000 (RM 2100 balance). After 2 years change new tyres you have more than RM 8000 budget to do so. If driving normal B or C segment Japanese car you have more than enough to pay your car expenses.

Mileage claim is to reimburse for fuel plus wear and tear cost. Road tax, car insurance, and monthly instalment are not in consideration. Parking and tolls claim should separate the claim from mileage.

I am in sales position and mileage claim is RM 0.50 per KM lower than yours. But we can't blame much because it is hard to justify to get higher mileage claim. It depends on industry like in IT industry last time my mileage claim was RM 0.80 per km. Now in automotive industry my company only allow RM 0.50 per km but still we can cover not only fuel but also service interval and tyre cost.

My friend in other industry the company is giving petrol card RM 1000 budget. But company monitor distance travel every month must submit the latest mileage of the car. Mean he cannot "sell fuel" to other cars to make money because it won't tally the fuel he pumped vs the distance he travelled. He said it is worse than mileage claim even as low as RM 0.40.

I guess the standard has always been around RM0.50 to RM0.60 per km, although some companies provide higher mileage claim for traveling within city (eg: traffic jam in Klang Valley)

Does it have certain amount that can be protected by labour law?
Example the company cannot exploit by paying too low.

My company pay RM1.00/km... some more boss asked me enough or not because of the inflation. She told me should be revised to RM1.20 or RM1.30. I told her no need cuz RM1.00 is very high already....
anyway I hardly drive cuz i'm not in sales so it's quite irrelevant to me.... some more got company car so i hardly use my car for work purpose.

Story short is RM1/km. I know this amount is considered very good.

There were many past cases in my company that got caught doing that already, even got GM included. Ended up all got expelled, so good luck!
