I believe your phone is not supported by DNB yet.

welcome to 5G era. now before you decide to buy some random 5G capable phones, you need to make sure our local telcos already support that phone or not. super stupid. i'll continue to skip 5G for a couple more years for all this stupidity to end.

So don't buy random sh*t then? It's on the manufacturer side to apply for approval and turn on 5G for you not DNB. That's why Apple didn't allow Yes or Unifi users to connect to 5G on iphone because not their telco partner until very recently. Motorola or other small companies wouldn't bother because numbers too low to justify the work. Just stick to more popular brands.

See my reply above. Your phone may never get 5G because Motorola doesnt seem to want to register for approval. The list is here: https://www.digital-nasional.com.my/interactive-map

Not really. Speed is generally better and latencies should be way way smaller in 5G network (which is quite big problem with 4G in some applications)

1. The device manufacturers need to enable 5G for the country/market. If the phone is bought from oversea it may not be able to be used in Malaysia as some device manufacturers enable features by country operators.

2. If they did enable the 5G feature, then device manuf needs to go to telco to conduct certification (not to DNB - if go DNB but not telco it wont work) for telco to recognize the device. Once telco recognizes the model, will enable the 5G for the particular model.

For both cases above, it is device manuf to ensure their phone can use 5G in all Malaysia telco.

Always go for popular brands and buy from telco or local phone brand store.

If buy from Lazada or Shopee makes sure is international or global model not China/Korea/US/Europe model … high chance wont work.

Basically, only local and approved sets sold here will have 5G support.

AP or overseas set no 5G even if the hardware supports 5G. U can't hack it either. As long not in the DNB list, it will not be supported.
