Real question is why do you want to do currency exchange? For traveling?

If its none other than for travel purposes, save yourself the trouble and check if that country can support overseas withdrawal from ATM. If can, enable overseas withdrawal on your card, then just bring a couple of debit or CC and just pay the ATM transaction fee.

You want to go travel carrying USD 1000 cash, you either carry it around with you all the time and get robbed, or hotel housekeeping go through your luggage and steal your money.

LOL. Back in 2019, I came back from KH with over USD 30K cash. MV money changers offered good rates compared to others. MV offered the best rates for large quantities of USDs.

I got 2 friends earning SGD kena.... never ever went money changer or bring >5000 cash again, all bank transfer from SGD directly to RM bank accounts

1. 8pm car park in front of Standard Charted(Y2020 Myvi T-bone that branch), walk behind alley to eat dinner, back car saw glass shards on seat, check and found rear triangular windows shattered, rear door unlocked, school bag under seat gone, inside SGD6000+(bonus before CNY) and student books

2. near 10pm alighted from BUS, walk back to home(less 8mins), halfway, dark Waja stop, 2 man walk towards, suddenly take out PARANG, yes 2 man equipped PARANG, tooked purse, took watch, took bag(inside SGD4500). this same unlucky friend also kena before after transact at money changer roadside shop, walk out to get car kena pushed fall down snatched his purse(around Rm3000 gone), lucky Rm2000 still in his pocket.

since then, whenever my friends mentioned about work in SG, i would suggest, recomend, persuade, convince them direct transfer.... If less than SGD1K cash can carry la....

CIMB travel currency give better rate than most exchange anyway.

the Touch n Go Visa card... . (just to be clear to those that confused with the normal tng card) All visa card use the same conversion rate. The only difference is the bank fees.

MV has the best rates in whole of KL. Alot ppl think outside shop better rates but no. Even 1u money changer the rate like shit. Foreigners go MV because there is a huge selection of shops there , even 1U lose

This is what we call stupid. Never ever leave cash in the car. I always change big amount at MV. Normally RM20k if asia trip. If europe trip i will change RM50k, no issues . Just drive back hope immediately. No stopping anywhere

Once I wanna change Canad dollar also think like u but at that time I tried to compare the rate at MV Vs nearby my area. The difference was 1500rm.
