Good morning,

i would like to seek opinion about laptop for organizing event and meeting presentation, budget around 3.5k, can stretch to 4k if needed.

main requirement will be display port which can support hdmi as well as vga, due to some older places still using vga, can still use converter but sometimes it may cause some problem.

if can support 2 external output at the same time will be a bonus, for example one port to projector and another port to second screen, otherwise still can use splitter.

3.5mm jack is needed.

battery life is not a priority since it will be plug in all the time, removable battery maybe better in this case but not a priority also.

slim type is not necessary, weight is not a concern, as long as not easily heat up.

expandable ram/ not soldered type is preferable for future upgrade if needed.

touch screen is not needed.

gaming laptop may have a heat handling and graphic support? business laptop will have better build quality overall?

I dont have/know any models to recommend at the moment but

VGA is gone from most laptops these days, since most of the GPUs these day dont support analogue video out, so laptops with that are basically just have an internal adapter inside

some business laptop with 2 ports should be fine? Try looking for a laptop that has a HDMI out and a USB-C DP Out and adapt that to VGA

for just presenting use, gaming laptop probably overkill + heavy + hot, some thin and light/business laptop will probably do

If VGA, most ThinkPads still have until 6th gen like the T460-470 series.

Can consider X280 or X1C 6th gen, HDMI by default, if need VGA use some ugreen dongle can liao

IMO its more frustrating not to have HDMI output - but Type C to VGA dongle can be adapted easily

X series thinkpads with at least 8th gen intel are not that expensive on used market, plus being USB-C capable easy to charge
Lightweight is also good if you need to carry it everywhere

Expandable ram you can go with T480, if run on internal battery its only 1.3kg
Can do up to 64GB RAM.
T480 is dirt cheap on used market
