Hie all,

Am building a Intel I9-12900 platform with B760 Asus board and trying to find a good DDR4 module ( 8 or 16Gb ) with some overclocking headroom. Read all about the SAmsung B dies but doesn't seem to be able to find a brand that guarantees it. Can anyone recommend a good module to buy? Looking to get within these two months.

I see plenty of Redditors using Gskill Ripjaws so this particular module seem to have a good chance of getting Sam Bdies. Hynix Adies looks to be next best.

Do we have an equivalent in shopee though? I see alot recommended Gskil trident Neo Z........ Ripjaws not so much though. Again, not too sure if B dies are still being made or thye moved along to C die already.

Go 32GB. 16GB is becoming out of date.

Doubtful, as I haven't seen here. Easily all got gobbled up by US & EU markets, but its not impossible, have you check out CL timings to verify (but still not 100% confirm).

You get better luck trying other RAM dies that's nearly as good, ie Hynix (or was it Micron?) Adies. But to find RAM kits is not as easy, some ie Gskill & Corsair has product coding that can be used to identify which die (need to check Reddits on that).

TristanX linked item is possible to be Bdie, the CL primaries looked to match but you gotta check other features or ask the seller to be sure.

One thing, unlike in USA where you could try & error then return if its not Bdie, I doubt you could return it even if seller lied.

But honestly, at least to me, no offense, using Bdies and trying to max RAM OC on a nonK and on Bseries mobo is kinda wasted. You can't even raise VCCSA for higher mem clocks anyways. IMHO with that setup, ur better off getting a decent 3200MHZ or 3600MHZ(downtuned to 3466) kits.

Save that money and either get better GPU (if building new) or a faster SSD where you could actually feel the difference. Just my 2sen.

Understood. Well I was thinking to buy the 13900K since I have employee purchase price but since I got the 12900 for free, mind as well just use it and my days as an overclocker is over. I just wanna be able to boot up and play dota......or Diablo4 which is really why I am building this.

Saw the RAM that TristanX linked. Mightily impressive. I'll kiv on that as I'm trying to keep my cost at bay.

So far, I've narrowed down to Gskill trident or Corsair Vengeance 3600Mhz.......

TristanX recommendation if I feel rich towards the end.

Getting a 12900 for free? I wish I have such luck Haha! But Predator kit price is around that of Bdies and the others highly OCable RAM, that is the price ur gonna pay for premium selected RAM if that is what you want to do.

C.Vengeance RAM are the low end tier and usually with standard CL17/18 timings so they aren't ideal to push RAM speeds. These are for setting XMP at auto and then forget about it.
Whatmore they are notorious with mix-n-match RAM chips from many suppliers & dies so depending on the RAM revision number, you could get either Samsung(nonB) or Nanya.

Ahaha...part of job benefits which we can get loaner CPUs on the projects we worked on.

Understood that there's a need to pay if we want to overclock but looking at the benchmark, performance gain does not justify the premium which was why I chose Corsair for now. Rather have more RAM than faster by 10-15%. Let's see if there are other potential brands at lesser premium. ahah

Haha, nice...

My suggestion is still the same:
IMHO with that setup, ur better off getting a decent 3200MHZ or 3600MHZ(downtuned to 3466) kits.
Save that money and either get better GPU (if building new) or a faster SSD where you could actually feel the difference.

Corsair is notorious for mix-n-match which could affect XMP stability if want to upgrade to 4x RAMs later on unless ur lucky to get the same exact kit years later when you wanna upgrade. If dont want that headache just get Vengence 3600MHZ 16x2GB kits. It will probably last ur system lifecycle use.

Yup....that's the plan now. I'm prolly gonna go with Corsair 32Gb now. I don't forsee I will be doing 64Gb anytime soon and by then I would have prolly gotten another free CPU to use so this will last me another 4-5 years or until I blow up the system like I did with my i7-2700k. lol.
