So I've started ordering custom leather straps more frequently recently, and they come with these quick release lugs that are just so convenient for swapping out straps whenever I feel like it. The thing is, I was talking to the strap maker, and he says there are cases where the knob for the quick release breaks off, and there is no proper way of removing the lugs then, apart from using a plier to break them off (in the process possibly ruin the strap and damage the watch case). I noticed that Delugs uses an improved version of the QR lugs, where the knobs are welded and even if it breaks, the other side of the lug has flanges so one could still resort to using a standard spring bar tool to remove the lug. They sell it for USD5 per pair, which isn't quite exorbitant but certainly isn't cheap. I'm wondering if anyone knows a seller that sells these improved QR lugs? I searched on AliExpress, shopee, etc but couldn't find any. https://delugs.com/blogs/news/new-and-impro...ase-spring-bars

Two is One and One is None.

don't need pliers. u should go see how old uncles remove spring bars by just using a pocket knife... basically by pressing down on one side so it pops out.
anyone who's owned something like a skx007 would know...as those have single shoulder \ shoulderless bars.

QUOTE(Everdying @ Apr 7 2023, 12:38 AM) don't need pliers. u should go see how old uncles remove spring bars by just using a pocket knife... basically by pressing down on one side so it pops out. anyone who's owned something like a skx007 would know...as those have single shoulder \ shoulderless bars. I have an skx007. The spring bars on those still have shoulders, just way more recessed than the other spring bars (the flange/notch sits very close to the spring bar hole in the lugs). But the shoulders are there and can still be manipulated with a spring bar tool or dental floss. The quick release spring bars do not have a shoulder whatsoever, so I'm not trying to wedge a knife or something else in there will help. I suppose if the knob falls off and it leaves a hole, I could still use a tool to latch onto the hole and toggle it open...but if the knob breaks off and does not leave a hole in its place then things become tricky.
