Yeap one or 2 are against the selling of the shop due to sentimental value. I'm just worry it's gonna be a bigger shit show later on (it's kinda is as of now).

Is there a way to file a request for the court to force the sale? I would expect the ones would quickly fold if someone initiate a legal action to request the court to intervene.

No other way, you need to convince all the 5 co-owners to sell. You best example will be the abandoned properties with no one to take care or handle at the later stage. You just need to talk in convincing manners to the other 2.

1) To sell a co-owned property is very hard. It is hard at present, it will be same in the future.

2) If really want to leave something to the next generation, leave something less troublesome. If they left something they can see but cannot touch, you think the next generation going to be thankful ? They next generation will just said, since it is so troublesome, just let the property left unattended & eventually will be land back into government agency due to outstanding taxes.

3) The younger generation will not value to sentiment because they never live there & they are not going to live there in the future. It is even unpractical to live there with so many branches of next generation.

They sell now, at least they can enjoy the fruit of the inheritance / leave the inheritance in other form to the next generation.

They don't sell it - worst case it will become unattended property. The next generation want to sell also cannot coz it is so hard to locate the owners. Ended up, sentimental = 0 value.

Maybe they will leave a sad story as a lesson to other ppl with so much emotion on sentiment.
