Regarding vowifi, which telco provide vowifi. So far only tested and be able to use vowifi for: umobile, celcom, hotlink, xox.

How about the other telco?

If in foreign countries, if connected to vowifi for Malaysia simcard, how about the charges for vowifi in foreign countries? Same like using the simcard in local Malaysia?

Could get the sms TAC via vowifi connection if in foreign countries?

Since now handphone got dual simcard, could simcard1 in handphone to use simcard2 internet data to connect as VOWIFI?

Thank you.

from my experience, Maxis/Celcom only allows it if you are on malaysian IP address. so going overseas, VoWifi would not appear.

DiGi/UMobile can connect to any wifi and it will work.

interesting to note> DiGi and U Mobile, if you use airplane mode + wifi, you can still receive SMS.

whereas Maxis you only can receive calls. (I presume those that restrict to your own country only you will not get SMS.

for your question, as long as you have Vowifi, you are assumed to be "local". hence local call charges apply.
to ease your doubt, turn off roaming or manually select an overseas carrier that's not supported by your malaysian provider to force it to always have no reception.

on dual sim iPhone, you can use one sim to provide other sim data for wifi calling under this settings. Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data > Allow Mobile Data Switching.
then select your data on your local sim, then the simcard you want to have VoWifi would be on secondary.

im on digi as well..

based on experience, vowifi works everytime im on wifi when overseas.. i made and received call while on vowifi and the standard local rates apply (RM0.20/min when call out to m'sian number, RM0.00/min when received call from m'sian number, etc. depending on what's ur telco charges).. received SMS TAC also fine regardless of vowifi or not

grateful that digi does not restrict vowifi to only works on malaysian IP.. long may it continue.. it saves me some serious ringgit as compare to before.. that i usually does not pick-up call (one that i deem not as important/urgent) if im not on vowifi.. or i call back at a later time when im connected

What telco are you referring? Maxis/Hotlink will slow in grants you the said services or you need manually request for it

its always been their policy, unlike maxis and celcom

but digi vowifi was never stable for me, always disconnect locally let alone overseas

umobile has been rock solid in the years ive used it overseas

i even use it with local sim, so can use umobile like im in malaysia when overseas

Iinm all telcos in Malaysia now supports WiFi Calling
Digi Celcom Maxis U Mobile Yes Unifi Mobile
Several Yes users (including me on 2023 Oct - Nov) got WiFi Calling already

unifi Mobile and Yes allow overseas IP (CMHK) , Digi allows overseas IP (Chunghwa Telecom / Singtel) , U Mobile allows overseas IP based on whitelisted ASN (e.g. China ISP have their own AS Number based on their province or city, these AS number might not be whitelisted by U Mobile and reject for register on IMS)

root cuz to use 5G
for VoLTE + VoWiFI , just use Shizuku + Pixel IMS method, it works for non root
