To the Electrical Sifus in this forum, pls advise....


The transformer in my original schneider door bell burnt out, so I ordered a replacement Schneider door bell from shopee.



The new one doesn;t look the same so I'm a little confused as to what to do with the two bottom blue wires that connect to the switch outside the gate. The manual appears to say the 2 blue wires should be joined with the Live wire and connect it to the L terminal on the left side of the door bell. Is that correct?

The Neutral wire goes to the N terminal. From what I have read, the Ground wire (green) doesn't need to connect to anything and can be left alone.


BTW, the Schneider door bell can be bought at Perniagaan Letrik ANS Sdn. Bhd. in Taman Paramount, PJ for RM55.

There are 4 wires for mechanical door bell. 2 wires for power (live and neutral) another 2 wires for doorbell switch. Ground wire optional or can put at any metal part of the casing or screws.

Be sure the live wire for doorbell is off at mcb before changing the doorbell.

Is it normal for a door chime to feel warm? I figured it shld be normal since the Live wire is heating up the transformer even when the door bell is not pressed.

On a related note, I went to get a replacement chime/door bell (the one shown above) with the full components at a physical store.

Avoid buying from a so-called "Preferred" retailer on Shopee called "Glowingmart". They are selling schneider door chime that is half what you are getting.

As Ezze22 above has said, there are 4 wires in a mechanical door bell.

Glowingmart sells door chime that only allows for Live and Neutral cable to be connected. But terminals for the 2 wires running from the switch outside are missing and therefore cannot be connected.

Glowingmart sent a video showing the door bell working but it is on a worktable with a third external device in between the switch and the door bell. So the demo video did not provide the solution. They claim they can't offer a refund since the door bell is working as shown in the demo.

i could pursue the matter with Shopee management against the retailer for false advertising but the ding-dong with docs and proof is tiresome and not worth my time.....so chalk it down as a lesson that not all Preferred retailers are to be trusted and that sometimes it pays to buy from brick and mortar stores.

So be duly warned.

wrongly installed this Schneider bell yesterday..burnt dy..very tricky need to keep track of the wire constantly..

bought new different brand, I'm using ProSMK now.
