Hi people. Got some questions to ask regarding extension rules and limitations.

For a Semi-D residential house, specifically the side and back portion of the house, what are the regulation in terms of boundaries ? I searched google and it says can only extend maximum 3 meter starting from the walls. If so, how much space should I be leaving between my walls and the neighbor’s ?

My scenario is that I wish to extend the side portion 4 ft out, which will be 1.2 meter. Any advice ?

I don’t know where is your area and under which council … different council got different guideline rules …
For example - MBSJ

If your semi-d is the cluster of 4 type … then back extension need to have a clearance of 5 ft from your fencing wall /boundary line ….so any structure is not allowed to be build within the 5ft from fencing wall ….

If your semi-D got back lane of 10ft .. then you can extend till your fencing wall /boundary line … (this is mostly applied to lot of council as well )

For side note extension
Between side fencing wall must have clearance of 10ft ( again example for MBsJ ) clearance of 10ft … after 10ft then you can do the fulll extension wall ….

They allow side clearance of 5ft if you decided to extend a patio /terrace with no perimeter wall…. Just open structure with roofing …..

Hope this answer your question

Cheers mate

Yeah,as ArchId said different council got different guideline rules.
Basically if you follow the rules, you wont be satisfied with your extension because its very limited per rules. But dont over built until kaw kaw extended. The most important is the extension must not cross the neighbor boundary and the rain water gutter must be very good that the water wont spill to the neighbor area.
