Recently I managed to get my submission approved and start uploading my photos. My acceptance rate is only 50% and most of the rejected reason is:
This file contains artifacting when viewed at full size. This technical issue is commonly created by the quality settings in-camera or in post-processing.

After reviewing back my submissions, I think it's the noise that is visible even at ISO80. This is very discouraging. I've submitted another few with noise reduction on the BG and I'm not sure how well it will go. If those get rejected, I guess I'll give up until I get a DSLR.

I know that there are few members here do have their photos submitted to iStock. May I know what's the necessary PP that's required to maximize the acceptance rate?

I got about 28 pictures with ShutterStock and have more than double the downloads. Might try this istockphoto with those that have been approved by ShutterStock and see how it goes.

Thanks for the site.

I don't think you got the to be a professional. As long your photos really look fantastic. You'd be able to get it.

I send my application to shutterstock two days ago. They required ID scan for verification, so I scanned them my driving license. They rejected it and stated only passport is acceptable. WTF, I ain't gonna scan them my passport. They are out of my list.

Funny, they didn't require any form of identification when I signed up with them.

They only need 10 best pictures of mine for filtering and if I got 7/10 then I'm in.

There are generally two types of stock: Macro and Micro. Under macro, one photo can be sold for thousand of dollars (USD). Istockphoto and Shutterstock are Micro. You earn minimum of USD0.25 per download. No doubt it's much more little than Macro, but it's less strict and getting more popular.

I got in with pictures taken by Olympus C-750UZ prosumer. So, it's not the camera issue. However, they have raised the minimum megapixel to 4 from 3.

Get your attitude right and you will be able to achieve well in photography.

When you have successfully uploaded the pictures, just let them earn money for you. Each download will earn you USD0.25, about 90 sen.

Good luck!
