KUALA LUMPUR: Cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat, who moved to Australia in 2021 recently shared details of her sexual assault by a customer earlier this year.

Sajat talked about the incident in a Facebook video yesterday. She said that It took place at her beauty salon in New South Wales, Australia on Feb 17, when a big-sized construction worker of Middle Eastern descent attempted to rape her.

Holding back tears, Sajat said: "As I was attending to a female customer – my last of the day – the assailant came in and asked for an eyebrow waxing.

"However, after I waxed his eyebrows, the man closed the door of the room and grabbed me while saying that he was interested in me.

"I told him, 'Please don't do this,' and he replied, 'No one is here'."

The attacker, who took off his shirt, thought that there were no CCTV cameras in the salon. However, there were hidden cameras.

"He choked and slapped me. I got him to stop by telling him that I would do whatever he wanted, but it was best that we adjourned to my house."

Sajat was afraid that if she fought back, he would harm her further and destroy her business.

"If I fought, I might have been killed," said Sajat.

She has since lodged a police report and sought help from a therapist.

The assailant was soon arrested.

Mental health professionals and the Australian government are providing Sajat with compensation and paying for her shop rental fees.

"The attacker will be billed for this and that's fair," she said.

Sajat said since the attack, her salon has remained closed as she is still traumatised.

"I am on antidepressants and not ready to reopen the business," she said.
