KUALA LUMPUR: Popular actor Kamal Adli suffered serious head injuries following an attack by a baton-wielding man in Singapore yesterday.

Kamal's actress wife Uqasha Senrose said in an Instagram post that the incident happened in Singapore last night when the Abang Long Fadil star was attending a special event.

Uqasha said that the attacker, believed to be a Singaporean national, hit Kamal repeatedly on the head, face, chest and back.

"The attacker hit him beneath his eyes. Thank God he didn't suffer any injury to his eyes, but doctors said that his head injury was bad and required stitches," said Uqasha who urged Kamal's fans and friends to pray for his speedy recovery.

Uqasha, who tearfully addressed netizens in an Instagram video, also uploaded a brief scene of doctors treating Kamal at a private hospital in Singapore.

Meanwhile, television host and singer Roslan Shah said on Instagram that the police had nabbed Kamal's attacker.

"Thank God they've apprehended the attacker. Let's all pray for Kamal," he said.
