CUSTOM DUAL XEON DELL WORKSTATION
user posted image user posted image

BACKGROUND
With popularity in SFF, this is a Dell Precision Tower 7910 with dual Xeons squeezed into a 22L volume, 14cm wide, clear acrylic case running Win 11 on a lightning fast NVMe drive with built-in WiFi and Bluetooth. It's alike any modern high-core PC with a consumer Nvidia GPU and the stability of a server. It's "nakedness" does wonders for an after dark light show. Yes, I added flashy aRGB lighting to a Dell workstation. And yes, you can leave it off. The custom case and additional hardware was put together 2.5 years ago. The Dell workstation hardware itself is about 6 years old, initially used for office work.

HARDWARE
16 Cores 32 Threads Intel Xeon E5-2630 V3 2 Processors 2.4GHz Base 3.2GHz Turbo.
32GB 2133 DDR4 registered/buffered ECC error-proof RAM, mixed Samsung Hynix Micron, 8GB x2, 4GB x4, dual-channel 16GB split for each CPU, 10 free slots.
1TB Intel Enterprise NVME SSD Pro 7600p 2280 PCIe Gen3x4, Spec seq read/write 3230/1625MB/s, additional room for one 2.5" SATA drive.
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 8GB RAM Palit Dual Fan.
Built-in WiFi 6 (AX) + BT 5.0 via Asus AX3000 Dual Band PCIe, 2402Mbps+574Mbps, Supporting 160MHz, WPA3 network security, OFDMA and MU-MIMO.
Win 11 Pro fresh install with latest updates March 2023 build 21H2, Original license from Win 10 Pro
Dual LGA2011-3 Socket Dell Precision Tower 7910 Motherboard 0215PR, Intel C612 Chipset, Upgraded TPM 2.0, Upgradable to Xeon E5 V4 CPUs.
Dell PSU 825W 80+ Gold 0C2TXD.

CASING
Custom laser-cut high grade clear cast acrylic, compact 22L volume, roughly 40 x 40 x 14cm.
Thick 10mm & 5mm sheets, UV resistant, does not yellow.
High airflow supported by honeycomb design and Silverstone fine nylon mesh dust filters at both intakes.
Separate airflow chambers, CPU airflow fans controlled by MCU detecting in-case temperature, GPU airflow fans controlled by GPU software based on GPU temperature.
Dell chassis intrusion, built-in speaker and 2 intake Dell case fans incorporated.
42 aRGB LED strip with black PCB for premium look and to stay hidden during work mode.
Two in-place programmable Arduino-based Digispark microcontrollers for,
1) CPU + case fan controller based on detected in-case temperature.
2) aRGB LED strip controller with effects and brightness control buttons located at the rear.
Digistump driver and source codes included on desktop with Visual Studio Code and PlatformIO preinstalled.
GPU software ThunderMaster included on desktop, installed with custom fan curve setup.

COOLING PERFORMANCE
10 minutes Prime95 and Furmark without exceeding CPU 75°C and GPU 80°C at ambient 31°C (Realistic Malaysian room temp without air-conditioning)
Fans under sustained max CPU load runs quieter compared to max GPU load and the loudest sound comes from Palit's dual GPU fans running at max speed.
Dell's powerful high-pressure workstation fans are capable of distressing volumes but they never have to reach more than half their capacity.

EXTRAS
Comes with,
1) An extra interchangable 1300W Dell 80+ Gold PSU for replacement or upgrade. (ALREADY SOLD! Price reduced to accomodate this)
2) Spare custom case screws and bots.
3) Assorted spare Dell workstation cables + accessories.

FULL DISCLOSURE & WARRANTY
1 inch barely noticable crack at rear panel due to separation of laser-cut pieces and refused using acrylic glue.
2 out of 4 front panel USB ports not detected by system. Possible board/cable mismatch. Could try spare provided.
While acrylic is more pliable compared to glass, this PC weighs 9.6KG, exercise caution by carrying with both hands, never by the top edge, best to grip the front and back panels together by the side edges, do not overtighen case screws.

CUSTOMISE YOUR OWN RGB EFFECTS

If you're bored with the 13 preset modes, or feel like diving right into learning the most widely used microcontroller framework, go wild with creativity as you have absolute control over your own per-LED aRGB effects.

The Arduino framework and its C programming language has a significantly established codebase and has tons of resources online. The provided source codes with clear and straightforward function and variable names should get any beginner started easily. Details of pin assignment and their functions are all included in the source codes.

The two Digispark MCU are already connected using internal USB ports and headers so you can programme them live while the system is running. Self-programming if you will. All you need to do is initiate the correct Reset button to set the MCU to programming mode before uploading your code. Obviously, please do not reset both MCUs at the same time. And fear not even if you mixed up the code and uploaded it to the wrong MCU. You only need to reupload it again. It is pretty fail-safe.
