Hi All,
As someone who's never actually lived in a landed property before, I would like to know from those who have what the noise situation is like. Specifically, can you hear thudding sounds coming through the shared walls when the neighbours move furniture, close doors loudly, etc?
At the condo where I'm living, my walls and floor vibrate when the neighbor below closes their front door. Is this a problem with the shared walls in a terrace or semi-d?
I'm less concerned about noise coming through the windows because that can be mitigated somewhat with good soundproof windows. Noise coming through the structure is more difficult to solve. For example, I've noticed that in some condos, the air con compressor from neighbours above will vibrate the slab and make a whirring/humming sound in the unit below. Would this also be a problem with landed homes? (I'm thinking that it might be because the compressors normally are mounted on the external walls.)
What is your experience with noise in terraces and Semi-Ds? I would appreciate anything you can share.
Thanks in advance!
depend on what type of house.. the older ones definitely not so soundproof. As someone who's never actually lived in a landed property before, I would like to know from those who have what the noise situation is like.
