I heard that the models for the asian market won't be able to turn off the shutter sound. So which model comes with the ability to mute the shutter sound and which does not? And is this a good phone for SMSing?

I think they got their info all wrong, all firmwares have shutter sound, the only way to switch it off is to set the phone into silent mode.
*
Hmm. Now that I have the phone. There are 5 options under shutter sound and the last one is 'OFF' and there is no shutter sound when i select it even in normal mode. However the focus beep is still there and I can't turn it off. In silent mode there is no sound at all, shutter and focus beep alike.

I got one problem. When I launch the SE update manager, it pops out a box saying I have an incompatible version of macromedia. I already downloaded Adobe Flash Player 8. How?

I too get almost pitch black pictures when i use the flash. Comfirm not covering the lens or the flash. I suspect it is super bad flash sync. I don't think it is sensor problem also since when I take a picture with flash and there are extra bright lights around such as leds, they get captured. So I'm assuming the ISO and exposure time gets slashed alot when flash is fired but cause it is out of sync the picture gets pitch black. Dunno why SE messed up this time when did did so well with K800.

I just realized the soft key button to take pictures is super useful to take super steady shots. Since cameraphones are darn light, pressing any button usually causes the phone to shake abit. But the softkey solves all that.

The original plastic protector that comes attached at the the back of the phone is definitely not the root of the flash problem. It is a clear piece of plastic of it has hole where the lens and flash are.

Another thing is none of us here is stupid enough to put our whole fingers infront of the lens blocking it completely when taking pictures, we'd realize that straight away.

I did some test today and I'm even more convince that it is a flash sync problem. I tried using the flash on objects at different distance and noticed pictures comes out ok for objects located about 30-15cm from the lens. Anything further than that the picture turns out pitch black except for some few bright spots which the sensor managed to capture . Let's hope SE fixes this fast.

Updated to the latest firmware. Flash sync has improved greatly, but still not very good. Sometimes still get very dark pics, but no more pitch black pics. I think the dot beside the LED is somekind of sensor and if you are using some protection such as silicone casing, plastic casing it may affect that sensor. So I'm making a hole in my silicone case.

Beside that phone speed overall has increase greatly. Media browser speed is super fast now plus now got trasition animation when scrolling throught pics.

Camera option menu changed abit. Last time when you scroll to the multioptions tab have to select ok then only will access it. Now will automatically access it.

Overall it was worth updating.

Is there any guide or can someone teach me how to update using SEUS?

Which country should I select? And just follow the instruction on the screen like take off the battery and stuff?
*
I selected Malaysia. But in the software, it ask me to select language only, no need country. And yup just follow the instructions and remember to hold c hold. Sometimes it takes a while.

I can't seem to upload any images. Very fustrating. Upload always fail.

I noticed that the pics at ISO 400 is very good and very little noise. Nice to use to get steady shots.

And remember, Neat Image is your buddy. very good program.

Correct. That one is to choose the language only. I choose English US and the Update is indeed R1EA031.

Off the phone already will be connected as mass storage.

If you accidentally release the c before it detect your phone will connect as mass storage.

So just redo all the step and will be able to update one

^ Had same firmware as you and no prob. I suspect you are in some preset mode cause in preset mode you cannot change most of the values in the options

It is macro mode. Focus distance about 5-10cm. Can't really remember. Preset is full auto with image stabilizer on. Sky had as slight overcast at that time. AE Metering is average.
