Car: Mazda3 2.0 (2012) Size: 215/45/17 Mounted 3 years ago and clocked at 30,000km.
First off the PS4 is an excellent all rounder performer both in wet and dry conditions and it is the best tyres I’ve used in terms of outright performance. In fact the tryes are still performing like when it was new....impressed! Now the issue with it is that once it’s passed 70% wear road noise get’s progressively louder. Wear rate is now at est. 40% and it’s a racket! It’s started to have the known issue of the tyres(front) chunking(rubber breaking off from the thread) as well. This tyre wear rate is high.
I don’t really drive aggresively but do ocassionaly enjoy a few hard corners here and there and that’s it.
What I’m looking for is a tyre that I won’t be disappointed for wet and dry conditions and isn’t noisy. Please recomemnd a tyre thar's close in performance to the PS4 without the issues I stated above. PS, I do understand that it’s a compromise as a quieter tyre will reduce the performance of the tyre.
Thanks.

For me either Michelin ps4 or good year assymetry but prefer Michelin. Good year sometime have quality issue
Used to use nexen n8000 long time ago but I guess the hype died down since can’t find supply of that tire anymore

Thanks. Hi there, based on your requirements pilot sport 5 seems to be the natural solution. I have not seen much pilot sport 5 data in Asia but based on Pilot Sport 4 vs MC6 there were quite close with MC6 being more comfortable https://toptirereview.com/continental-max-c...-pilot-sport-4/I had a quick check on other options with the table below https://toptirereview.com/tire-prices-malaysia/There is also Primacy 4 which in my eyes is better, you can check out the comparison below. it's also slightly cheaper than PS5 https://toptirereview.com/which-michelin-is...-pilot-sport-4/Hope this helps

Thanks. Try Goodyear F1A5 or 6, no chipping issue like PS series and should be less noisy with performance equal or better based on most review tests.

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Jul 20 2023, 09:25 AM) No, definitely no to MC6... noisy and not comfortable. Better stick with Primacy. Bro, MC6 is under UHP category tires, while Primacy series is under touring base tires. (totally 2 different category, like apple comparing to orange) Touring base tires for sure is more better in term of comfort & silent, but you sacrifice performance related. If your talking about PS series that is Pilot Sport model which is more nearer to MC6 in comparison, even tho most tire reviewers already list PS series as even higher UUHP or Max Performance category tire. Couldn't comment on PS4 even though I ride in my cousin's car which was fitted with one set. It's pretty much quieter than MC6 if anything, but can't comment on the comfort since I have never driven it. Also not sure how much the performance change compared to PS3 that I have used before. That's why I'm not commenting on the performance comparison since although MC6 is noisier, the hard sidewall does make up a bit in term on cornering and braking. Not sure how much the ps4 sidewall is now because ps3 is understeering quite badly. This post has been edited by andrekua2: Jul 21 2023, 12:26 AM

PS4 still UHP. PS4S is UUHP. Using MC6 now and I find it less than PS4, more like entry level UHP or borderline between touring to UHP. I am using MC6 now on my wife's Mark X and had tried PS4 few years ago and PS3 before too.

Too many unnecessary categorization, PS4 should remain just UHP and PS4S is max just before extreme category like PS Cup2 or AD09, RE71RS.

MC6 will let you down if you compare to PS4. The one should compare to PS4 is CSC7 but Malaysia hardly get it because it is only imported from Germany and price will shock you. Conti tyres which made in Malaysia, Thailand or China are mostly perform average or lower compare to same similar tier competitor.

The price is already an indication, MC6 generally cheaper compare to PS series. Besides that PS4 is consider UUHP/Max Performance tire which is at least 1 or 2 level higher compare to MC6 for most tire reviewer.

For Continental actually CPC6/7 are already upgraded as direct competition to ps4/5 while csc6/7 become competition with ps4s.
