 Scandisk, diskfrag, Will it work for Win 10?

Hi.

Remember back in the day some say Scandisk, diskfrag etc. can make our computer faster?
Possible with Win 10?

If you use hard disk, do defrag. Possible with win10.

If you use SSD, never ever do defrag. Still possible to do anyway in win10.

If you mean for pendrive, possible with win10, but don't know necessary or not. See others reply.

flash based storage never need to defrag, it make no sense at all as defrag was meant for harddisk ONLY.

its possible to defrag but you end up increasing the PE cycle, or TBW unnecessarily.

get faster and better spec PC.
if your PC too old or the spec was meant for casual use, don't expect it can run games with highest quality preset, or rendering 4K video with all filters applied sweat.gif

Latest Windows 10 already able to auto detect whether your storage is a HDD type or an SSD type.

If HDD was detected, the defrag utility will allows you to defrag the HDD.

If SSD was detected, the defrag utility will DISABLED the "defrag" steps and instead uses "Optimized" features.

Thus if you think or feel the SSD is slowing down, optimizing it may clear some cache files.
