Hi all,

Thinking to powder coat my main gate with white colour. The material is galvanised steel.

The gate will be under rain and shine since there's no roof/awning above it. My contractor recommended against it since white colour will need high maintenance as it will get dirty easily.

May I know if anyone has a white colour main gate and if you regretted about it now?

Or any advices to share?

if you are willing to maintain it why not?

reason Contractor don't recommend is that the galvanized steel must be top quality, otherwise will easily see rust spots if quality not so good.

btw about the maintenance, normally what is needed for a gate ya? shall i just wash it down with water from time to time?

also say if there's any rust spots, since it's powder coated, can i just paint on with those normal metal gloss paint?

powder coating is a type of resin. it is sprayed on and then heated in oven to form the coating.

so can just wash.

however, i am not sure if it will discolor due to exposure to sun

ok noted, if it's just regular washing then i guess it's fine for me
