Planning to change my set of tyres which were used for about 7 years already.
Got quoted for few brands of tires, the ones I considered are Hankook eco2 (rm210), Michelin XM2+ (rm240)and Yokohama bluearth es32 (rm200). All in including balancing, valve etc.
Size is 185/65r15.
Currently using Bridgestone ecopia150.

Prices don't differ too much, but as I researched the pictures of the tires, I noticed Michelin only has 2 longkang while Hankook and Yohohama have 3 longkangs. As I understand, the longkang is useful for water dispersion and wet handling. The more the better.

I prefer Michelin as most people say it is the best, and most youtube reviews are good. It is also the most expensive among the other brands, expensive means good. As the saying goes, good thing no cheap, cheap thing no good...

I prefer tires which are stable and quiet. I usually drive normally and within speed limit.

So sifus, which tires should I go with? 2 longkang or 3 longkang?
Also, Yokohama es32 happens to be made in Japan (which is superior?), while Michelin made in Indonesia/Thai

for quiet and comfortable ride go for XM2+, for stability and better grip, ES32 Japan.

If these are the choices, i will go for es32 as i personally it is almost as good as xm2+, just not as long lasting.

btw may i know where is the shop that quote you this price?

xm2 plug technology may improve two longkang grip.
my pick is four longkang minimum (wide size)

go for es32, cheap and good.
Good enough for daily ride. Its extra longkang definitely helps in heavy rain.

If want play fast cornering please use at least Bridgestone Adrenaline or above.

Well, this i did not agree. The most expensive tires did not mean it will win in each category, nowadays with the internet, reviews, actual test reports I sad to tell that Michelin performance is dropping and some competitors even manage to meet & win over it at a lower price range... Just think of it like Apple or LV, Michelin is like a branded item in tire world and position high up, with the ads, billboard, holiday/training package they are sponsoring the tire shop where do you think the cost come from?

Number of grooves/longkang depend in the tyre width. For 185 width, XM2+ is 2, ES32 is 3, and Hankook is 3.

XM2+ can go up to 3, ES32 up to 4, then Hankook up to 4 for wider sizes.

I think it also depends on the consistency throughout the lifespan of the tires. Some perform well when new but the performance deteriorate very fast as time goes by. While Michelin claimed to be consistent even when worn.

I heard Hankook handles well but very noisy. Yokohama while made in Japan, does not suite Malaysian pothole ridden roads very well, therefore not durable. Michelin is all rounder, not particularly good in any aspect, but is consistent.

Hope to see someday end of life performance for other brand tyres also guaranteed.

I used a lot of Yokohama tires in different vehicle in my family & i did not encounter any problems. The most important is getting the suitable tires for the occation. Like SUV i am using Yokohama Geolander SUV series, while smaller ride like Kelisa i am using the ES32. FYI my Kelisa already using 2nd set of ES32, from the early orange oil batch until now, this is how good is it for me & my family.

FYI, if you think Michelin tires no issue, in my SUV group already got primacy 4 tires bengkak on the sidewall also. This depends on how the owner drive the vehicle, if always hit pot holes at high speed, any good tire also gg.

BTW, do observe those tire shop workers or shop owner vehicle is using what brand tires. If it is good, i believe most of them should be using similar brand or model right If you got true friends working in tire shop field, they will tell you there is no best/perfect tires even with the most expensive brand.
