Hi people, today I just got my maxis fibre installed and they've set up the stock router as well. At the same time I already have my third-party router TP-Link AX73 ready, so I tried to move over to the new router but it doesn't seem to have internet despite having the correct PPPoE name and password ( I asked the technician and he gave me ). I was wondering did I miss any part wrong.

I do remember that the technician seems to mention about let the maxis stock router run 24 hours first for something related to MAC address, is it because of that? or did I set up something wrong for the new router?

mostly because of the VLAN ID. As i remember for TPLink AX series you can select ISP when configuring the router.

Which VLAN ID did you use?

Go to Advanced, Network, IPTV/VLAN

Select Maxis1 profile, if it doesn't work, try Maxis2

hmm what LAN port was the cable connected to on the modem/ONT originally? LAN 1 or LAN 2?
connected to WAN on the tplink right

you could also try manually entering VLAN 621 or 11

I am not sure why my VLAN ID is 51, right now it works and I found it through the stock router diagnostic. Is it gonna cause any issues? and what do IPTV and VOIP do?

where do you live in? possibly your maxis fiber is in extraordinary infra e.g maxis own infra OR TNB allo infra hence different vlan id settings

IPTV is never implement in maxis fiber regardless of infra, VOIP will breaks if you use third party routers (unless follow threads by anime4000 maybe)

That VLAN seems to be Maxis on TNB/Allo infra

IPTV I think is not really used, for Maxis + Astro in the past i think?
VOIP is for the landline phone that connects to the stock router, to setup, need some work, see the anime4000 thread
there should also be another management vlan, no need to setup that, its for maxis to remotely change settings on the stock router

Yeap, I am using Maxis on TNB/Allo's port, they also told me that Allo also provides additional speed to your router despite your package being only 300mbps (I got 580mbps from the last LAN test when the technician come over install), which is quite interesting.

Currently I am waiting for my newer PCIe wifi adapter to do another speed test again.

As for IPTV and VOIP, I don't really use those nor my family does, so should be fine for now if I leave them as it is.

580 is quite the boost, almost 2x

But yeah Maxis Fibre on non TM Infra has a boost
For me I'm on 30Mbps on Maxis own infra, I get 38Mbps

Easiest method, connect your AX73 to your stock router and set it up in AP mode, then just disable the wifi on the stock router and you're good to go 😉
