My old Sharp fridge will need replacing soon.

Was looking for a simple 2 door fridge...went to a few physical shops. Looked at Sharp and Panasonic, then saw Hisense and Haier fridges on sale. Are those 2 China brands worth buying?

I would avoid Toshiba as my in-laws and I are using the same series fridge (different sizes) and both have minor issues that should not have been there.

Alot people dunno actaully Haier fridges are joint venture together with Liebherr. Haier actually sould similar to Liebherr in Chinese.

Core unit of Haier Fidge are German technology.

Yes avoid at all cost, their service also sucks!
i basically throw away my 3 months old samseng fridge.

they tell me there's no issue even though:
1. Ice also melted in the freezer
2. those drinks label also get wet in the fridge.

They got the guts to ask me did i use the fridge too much? When Monday - Friday 7am to 8-9pm no one at home (both of us working).

TY for that info!

Moreover, several years later, the firm was renamed after the second part of the Chinese translation of its partner Liebherr to receive its current name, Haier.

Looks like they had a very high regard for Liebherr. I've also seen Liebherr freezers in various supermarts. Hopefully that'll translate into a reliable Haier home fridge.

Its been a while since I called them, but so far been good. Older model like mine, memang no parts. I guess it depends on model as well, for parts availability.

From my experience, I have encountered really bad fridge yet that gives headache. Previously had used, sharp, pana, hitachi.

Some consumers that reporting problem could have arose from that specific model itself rather than a bad brand, which happens to any electronic items

Basically, fridge is simple and same electrically and electronically. Part probably made in China for cheap labor. Well, probably not that cheap anymore but cheap to produce because the material are locally available smile.gif

How long you want to keep your fridge. Say you buy 2k fridge and lasted for 10 years. It is only RM200 per year. Probably new fridge have more functionality or more efficient after 10 years and you probably want to try something new biggrin.gif

NO. Stay away from those cheaper brands. LG is the best or if can afford more than go for Bosch. Stay away from Panasonic fridges in Malaysia. This is because Panasonic Malaysia has a bad service department manager. Just cannot accept that my new Panasonic fridge is vibrating and rattling loudly. He switch off the fridge from the plug. This is a dirty tactic by untrustworthy service technicians and managers. If they switch off the fridge and switch back On after few minutes, the fridge components like inverter and other components will take time to start working again like normal. Therefore, the technician/manager will say that there is no problem. All ok. My MF freaking @ss it’s ok. It’s not. My Panasonic fridge with inverter and evonavi technology is getting worse. Thank goodness my regular over 20 years electrical shop ESH at SS2, PJ is very good and saved me. Ms Mary from ESH called and spoke to Panasonic Sales Manager and solved it. She told me I can come to ESH and select a different better fridge. They will exchange for me because I am their very regular long time customer. Great Job ESH , SS2 PJ.

I hv had no issue with my Samsung 2 door fridge even though it broke down after 8 yrs but repaired, replaced new compressor under warranty, only charge small workmanship fee.
Lately added a Midea fridge (also 2 door unit) and working well until now..
Hisense and other global China brands are also ok.

Yes, nowadays any fridge is considered to be OK. Most people only look at the price nowadays. If one is looking at small capacity fridge say around 350L +/-, the price difference is small to negligble. It's only when considering big fridges with large capacity more than 500L, then the price jump is huge between brands such as Panasonic or Samsung etc. and Hisense or other cheaper fridges. For >500L fridges, the cheapest Panasonic or Samsung model is around RM5k or higher. For Hisense, it's about RM2k to 2.2k only. Big difference.

I would rather go for hisense, got warranty, no problem 😐🤙🐝

Yes. My brother-in-law just bought a 550L Hisense fridge for just slightly higher than RM2k, it's more than 1 year old now. If other brands it's RM5k-10k. Surely value for money.

In the event I need to purchase a new fridge, it would surely be >500L and a Hisense, since all other fridges above 500L are not less than RM5k. The Hisense is only RM2.1k or 2.2k the last time I checked which is incredible.

This thread is over 2 yrs 10 months old, but I don't mind new posts chiming in because it is informative for all. Pro bono, dude!

As for my old Sharp fridge, I didn't junk it... replaced the slightly warped seals and it is still working well till today. That is one tough appliance!
