Does anyone buy lottery from overseas? Say from the US or SG? because they all pay in USD. Their prizes i saw up to $100m+ is so much more than what we have here in Msia. I saw someone overseas won in US before (not malaysian), but just wondering if there are other rules applicable, if they will honor it.

A lot of government licensed a.k.a legal lotteries have requirement that the winner must be a resident of the issuing nation/state/territory. So beware of the fine print if you buy a lottery ticket from overseas.

From what i understand, it depends on which state when buying in USA. Some states require physical presence for collection. Unlike in malaysia, it's 1 rule across states (correct me if i'm wrong). Theirs have different taxation and some even have price limit payout for non citizen/resident, all depending on which state the ticket is bought from. But so far i've never seen any malaysian winner. I'm been thinking to try the powerball...

Yeah, i'm just trying to find evidence of any winners from Msia or any regular buyers from Msia, out of curiosity.

This is interesting. It is said that the online company the Iraqi bought from, actually sends someone to buy a lottery on behalf of him, as a service like lotto agent. Means the winner didn't buy directly from the lotto company. This is kinda risky IMO. It's also stated that the ticket holder, agent went to claim the prize instead of the owner. I'm not sure what is the claim requirement in Oregon, but pretty sure if there is a choice, the winner could have just claim it using direct wire transfer. Also, the company took 1% as commission, not sure if this is standard commission or random based on amount.

if u got a friend in US u can ask him to buy. but then u must trust he will give u the money if u win the lottery
