New USA President Harry Truman had a strong rating over 80% at home
Truman approved 2 atomic bombing to force Japan surrender

1946
Truman face the reality of post war with internal economic crisis, inflation and a labour union strike. Truman tookover the rail roads and shut unions but to no avail as his rating fell to 50%

1947
March- Truman announce Truman Doctrine to divert attention to Cold War with Soviet and stoke nationalism vs communism
Coal mine explosion killed 111 miners under reported

April- Texas City Disaster worst US industrial accident with 581 dead in vessel port explosion

May- Truman signed Truman Doctrine to grant US400 million for military aids and vetoed Hartley Act which restrict labor union rights.

June- Senate override Truman veto in a sign of national crisis.
One day later, a flying saucer was reported in news.

July- Roswell UFO incident where a UFO with Alien was reported crashed and captured! This started a national UFO craze over everything else.
A perfect diversion.
