Hi guys, this is my 1st time posting here. I'm a newbie in ICE so need opinions and suggestion from fellow sifus~

I'm planning upgrade my H.City ICE step by step.

Currently I got some friends wanted to sell me they amps.

1. Magnat Traxx 600 4 Channel

2. Memphis 4 Channel PR100.4

From the above 2 amps, which one is more value to money?

My future intention for my City ICE setup is :

1. 2 DIN DVD player.

2. Front and rear with component set.

3. 2 12" subwoofer.

4. 4 channel amp for front and rear component set.

5. Monoblock for my 2 12" subwoofer.

I'm more into SQL than SPL. What brand of component is more suitable for my requirement. My budget for component is about RM500 per set. Or should I get a better one? Is it necessary to change the rear speaker or just maintain the original one?

Since I'm having the 2 Din DVD player, so I would prefer the setting for my ICE is good for song and also MTV.

Alright, i guess I would stop here 1st. Learn it bit by bit. Thanks~

Ops, sorry for that.

Memphis - RM1500 and Magnat - RM500. Both can nego.

Btw, I'm considering some 2 DIN DVD Player.

1. Kenwood DDX-7039

2. JVC KW-AVX 805

3. Sony XAV-W1

Which one is better in term of durability, sound quality, visual quality and performance?

I just installed the HU kenwood ddx-7039 for my car, anyway what car are you driving? i found that the HU did not really fit well for my HU console... gonne done some trick rclxub.gif

*re-post
oh you are driving honda city.. i guess ur console is most likely the same with mine, i am driving Jazz anyway.. so if you choose kenwood HU, it might not fit well into console.... for JVC dual din HU is jus nice, one of my fren he is driving Jazz as well, he got the JVC HU install nice and fit, both sound quality wise almost the same (very depend on your amp and component set), i still perfer kenwood becos will have more features for all... icon_rolleyes.gif

If u r going to use rm500 per comp set, it's better to go for magnat amp, u dun need a high end amps for these comp, as for comp for this price i would suggest focal access, good for vocal as u like to watch mtv. rear speakers basically can keep the ori ones.

The Memphis is a good choice. But being a used amp, it's rather pricey.

You can settle for even better amps with 1.5k.

For your rear speakers, it's always better to remove it. Really. Does it even matter for the passengers at the back?

If there's ICE in your car, everyone will "Call Shotgun!" to sit at the front.

If you're not into full scale bass-attack type of ICE, I'll suggest you purchase a new 5-Channel amp say for between $1,300 to $1,500, a good 6.5"/tweeter component for the front & also a entry-level 2-way 6.5" at the rear for passenger staging during movies when you install your DVD. Well tune setup like this will re-create good sound music & DVD playback. Not necessary to go for costly speakers above $1K for the front.

instead of putting front and rear component set..which i rarely see such setup, why dont investing in a better single front component set? I think it will sound much better.

Magnat amp is a good and cheap way to go with...using magnat myself

I haven't had a chance to hear such setup, might sound good rclxms.gif but i still think that one rm1000 component set at the front will sound better den 2 rm500 component set tongue.gif well, of couse if you have a very good 4-channel amp, then it would be a different case

I don't know bout you guys but I don't think it's really important for the passengers at the back to have their speakers.

I've sat behind, in my own car, I can still hear the music loud and clear, although not as balance. But hell, why spend RM500 to compensate the pleasure of the passenger, instead of yourself. It's your car, you're the driver, you are the one who spends most of your time in the car.

Most 5-Channel amps are rated between 120w to 200w X 1 @ 4ohm for its sub output & recommended for a single enclosure 12" or possibly double voice-coil 10" the most depending on ownner preference ICE-Setup.

Have already indicated that high possibility of installing DVD Screen-Player in front; propose for 2-way setup with 'rear-cover' speaker installation using good 'cap-ayam' 6" 2-way speaker as depending on model of DVD screen-player to be install for possible discrete 5.1 or a 'reverb-delay' surround-sound.

Alpine PDX.5 mono channel is rated at 300w RMS.

And that's also because it's under rated.

In the birthsheet, depending on your luck, u may get 330~360w RMS

Really? So that means you're saying all the wattage/power given by the manufacturers are not accurate?

So, now, you're telling me, any amp you want to buy, you get the DEVICE and test the EXACT power before buying?

Google the device and tell the community la. So maybe I can buy 1 and test on my amps, and the amps I wanna buy in the future.

Like I've mentioned in many earlier thread, have to check the amp guts closely; there are power transistors within to check ratings & the nos it has which indicate its actual capacity immaterial whatever is printed on the cover.

Let's don't start to get off-topic. I like the idea of having cap ayam brand speaker at the back..especially with DVD player...although i personally think having DVD player in the car is not really practical..you dont get to watch..>.<

if u really wan 2 din, u can try pioneer.
it depend on how much u wan to put.
if u really wan great sound, why dun try JBL? www.jbl.com . it's amp very good.
mtx is good for subwoofers.
