Mistake is on HP. They didn't ensure the venue/caterer serves appropriate food options based on guests. Can't blame venue as they do not have guest list.

Should have a Halal meat table and not lump with Vegetarian table. I understand why the guy is fuming and hold grudge forever.

Been to non halal venues where they cater from halal food provider for large events. Most hosts will accommodate guests' requirements, especially guests that were invited.

And you're right on the vegetarian dishes not considered halal. So this dude could only drink water at this HP event.

Off topic but worked in a large company that moved to new building that did not include a surau, after getting feedback from all staff on what features they'd like to see. My department Malays emphasised on surau since had to share with foreign workers in old building
