is the limit unlimited??

cause I tot of changing into this from streamyx...

Dont even think about Maxis broadband. (I'm using USB mobile RM138 package)

1. It's not unlimited package, It's limited to 3Gb/month, lebih kena bayar xtra
2. 3.6Mb/s tu speed untuk satu kawasan/sector
3. Disconnected very very frequently.
4. 3.6Mb/s is only for HSDPA(High Speed..) area.
5. All BITTORRENT port is closed from 6am to 1am.(Open also very slow..)

Others I dont know but Maxis Broadband mobile SUXS!!!
The stupid fair usage contract is NOT FAIR at all!
Dont sold your soul to this guys.

Wow.... lots of angry faces.... but please provide the facts and not personal accusations....
when you mention in point#1 [lebih kena bayar xtra] did you get charged? If yes, how do they charge you?
any prove of bill you can upload for us to share? I'm sorry for being a nosy, but i was on in for few months with average 70GB download per month and no extra charges like you mention...

Before I start u better be using USB mobile package or it will be a waste for me to attend to your cause rather than to the whole forumners.

The first point is from their FAIR USAGE policy
Please refer to FAIR USAGE policy??
QUOTE
5.3  Excessive Usage
5.3.1  Each customer's total usage per month shall NOT exceed 3GB of data volume transmitted (total upload and download usage). This is to ensure that no individual hogs the bandwidth at all times.
5.3.2  If a customer wishes to use more than the volume permitted, a written request should be made to Maxis.
5.3.3  Maxis reserves the right to reject the said application or charge for any additional data volume transmitted from what is already allocated.

I dont care about whether u are getting charged or not. If it's in the contract u can be charged anytime, whether its now or 6 month later.

Btw, tell me any other wireless that do not throttle P2P.... Jaring? It is limited at the moment.... Don't compare to Streamyx as it is wired and it is in a different class.... i'm not defending Maxis but most of us in this forum are sharing useful tips on how to maximize our usage with FACTS.....

Throttling is the secondary point. The MAIN point is blocking Torrents port for about 19 hours per 24 hours a day. That's not broadband. Hey we paid for it. Azureus is speedy than any Ive tried but maybe because they have total control of the files to download from their side (There, I share some useful information)
QUOTE
For example.... for P2P... try using WebUI (e.g. GetByte.com) or VPN.... great speed if you are living <2km from the base station....

I'm not commenting on their speed but to more to the stability of their connection. Going from fast to slow is not as much problem as when the line is disconnected right then and there. Nightmare if u are in a middle of internet banking or on a processing page that cant be refreshed.

I'm a reasonable person and can tolerate moderation but I just cannot tolerate when people take advantage of u as a person with their TOTALLY ridiculous FAIR USAGE policy

Try comparing the Celcom more civilized FAIR USAGE Policy

I just dont wanna any other forumners here not knowing what they will sign.

Thanks..

as for celcom.. not sure what they offer... but no one will ever know by just looking at the surface.. somone will definitely have to be the guinea pig to try and experience the pains first then we can compare both of this services...
For me, nothing is better.. have to stick to the current 'slowness'.. unsure.gif Until the FTTH is on track..

QUOTE
all in all.. it is fair to say both of this service is not going to be suitable for gamers and BTers...

and i don't get what is the difference between the RM138 and the RM98, RM78 and RM68 package other than the speed and for the rental of the modem...what the maxis guys told me is that the price we see is actually a combination of a base package price for 384, 640 or 3.6Mbps and then on top of it is added another rental price and the USB modem is actually the most costly to rent...
Yeah, I tried to go for the best and end up with the most controversial.. hmm.. sleep.gif

IMHO, Right now the only advantage of the USB one is MOBILITY..

i think juno had the problem where his modem went down to EDGE on idle as he stayed on a page for too long...then when he clicked on to continue the connection went back to HSDPA but it was a re-connection rather than a change of service and the worst is the public IP changes and his session got terminated on the server side of the banking system...i had this problem too when i started out doing work for my office...

Like yor style.. Calm and resonable man(or woman etc).. whistling.gif
