Eventhough it is suppose to be 5dB gain.... but with the 12 feet extension sitting at my balcony... i manage to improve the signal from -85dBm to -68dBm!!!! Equivalent to 50% gain in speed.... thus now cruising in 1.6mbps.

then your speed might be due to the severely poor connections this few days... it just happened that it burst up all of a sudden... normally what i do is i watch the traffic going through my network adapter of my task manager when i do my speedtest runs. This is to ensure that there is no difference too big from the speedtest site. I found that sometimes speedtest peaks more than what my task manager shows.

We have to consider the possibility that in the case of their resellers, Maxis may be "allowing" them a higher bandwidth/higher speed to help them sell the service.  After all, if their speed is the same as other subscribers, ie. sucks, then how are they going to be able to "con" people into signing up? 

Hi guys...i'm planning to get the RM68 package, is this come with any modem?....usb or PCMCIA?....free or rent?....

If there is no with/free modem, can I get these below PCMCIA and direct to online?
Is this PCMCIA as datacard reader + modem?

I recall reading somewhere that the modem is not free, it is on rental only.  The person who posted this called up Maxis to clarify after HP could not give a definitive answer.

As my connection speed was very poor since the 1st day i got the modem, can i get my refund back within 7 days of usage and return the modem+terminate my acc.? Erm, im BT while at 11.00pm using maxis wireless broadband.. Location at Tropicana Damansara.
