I'm staying at 19th floor i'm still on HSDPA 5-bar... it was not recommended at first because the statement was origianal 4 ZTE modem which needs a powerplug to run with... therefore if it is indoor... it is safer not to go beyond 5th floor, but I'm using USB WBB with the 5m extention booster and hang it out at the balcony... no issue with signal problem. Only problem is Maxis itself...

Slightly off topic...I'm now connected to streamyx 1MBps via a friends router staying a floor below me... (ask him to leave his router near the balcony as I'm directly on top . rclxms.gif ) ... utorrent Speed w/o VPN 25K~40K with VPN 55K~85K.

Cloud: i think in short, if you want Torrent, then go get wired with VPN or Tflux.... no other choice... at this moment....

if that the case, what do you guyz think of 4G Izzi wireless broadband??
which is using radio signal, more stable than 3G

it's 1mbps, but will get free upgrade to 2mbps next year (Got the technology, but not approved yet by the government)

Current package is 1 num sum payment RM 1,138 = RM 88 x 12 months + RM 82 installation.

then is refunded for 1 year period, 7 days 100% refund, 75% refund for 3 months, 50% refund for half year...

What do you think??

Added on October 27, 2007, 3:44 pmmaybe i guess i should return this MAXIS USB Modem fast, since its just 2 days ago since i apply, anyone knows where??

do i have to go to KLCC Maxis Centre to return or any maxis agent can do so??

I've checked out Izzi... limited coverage at the moment which rules it out of contention. There are alot of concern with this non-telco companys where you are not fully assured of their support and future quality. But hey, if the existing users are happy with it, then go on... better than some of us which is still stuck with the big telcos but unwilling/unable (18-mths contract) to move away... therefore we end up here @ LYN vmad.gif mad.gif

I think I've found out by crashing the router. They can't do many things. At the moment my modem is hung. I did that trick and bam i have found some speed improvement.

Maxis wireless broadband is NOT WORTH to try out.
This is what i experienced with Maxis.

A couple of weeks ago, I had decided to have a try on the 7 days free trial of the broadband.
I was told that there won't be any charges if I return the equipment to them within 7 days if the service is not satisfying.
Indeed, the service is really poor that I had called up Maxis to terminate my account on the 3rd day of trial and I went up to KLCC Maxis center to return the modem within the given 7 days.

And a few days back, out of no where, i received a bill from Maxis costing around RM190++.
Thats' really too much and not reasonable charges for 3 days trial which was supposed to be free of charge.

rite now i'm using my maxis bb with power package. sumtime ok.most of time..sucks eventhough my house just around univ. putra msia.

mais agent told me..that rm98 is a fix rate (unlimited usage). i'm quite not happy with this since i'm read there's some ppl who need to pay more than that rate. so...is it the package was a fix rate..or bill?

you'll pay more..Not RM 98

RM 98 + gov tax + RM 5 for the bill and that RM 15 for line rental

Breaking News

I am downloading a DVD (as we speak) and I've found out that once you reach 3GB (i assume its 3 or so) the download gets super slow ...It does not go beyond 384Kbps (aka 40 Kilobytes/sec) , currently its hovering around 5-10..Using VPN also does not break this. It seems that my Internet is going slower and slower. I asked my friend who is using maxis and he said that he does not have any sort of slowness. Can someone confirm with me

i downloaded more than 3GB since i subscribed to the service at the beginning of the month. Erm ... roughly 20GB++. my speed only slow at nite time, normally 5-30KBps http download. But morning and afternoon speed very fast, can reach 400KBps if lucky. By the way, i retrieve my torrent files back from utorrent webui provided by getbyte2u. If direct torrent, no luck for me even during 1am-6am. mad.gif My location is in PJ SS2. icon_rolleyes.gif
