It's not about the brand of ssd. It's about the chipset.

Yeah it's not about brand but specific model, like Kingston A400 was bad but KC2500 was the best bang for buck SSD
or recently a lot of Samsung SSDs having problem

even for IT people its complicated
Since the manufacturers dont tell you what stuff is inside
so you have to rely on 3rd party reviews
but even then, manufacturers like to change out components over time either to cut costs, or forced to change due to component shortages, which would cause an improvement or decrease in peformace.
When the community go complain, well, they say they didnt sell it based on components, just model and expected peformance
so they have the right to change stuff as long as the peformance is still close to as advertised

For most consumers they just expect you to grab whatever is in your budget and enjoy without thinking about the specs inside

Best way is to just pop open your SSD, but depending on the manufacturer your warranty may be void

2nd best would be just 3rd party reviews on sites and databases such as techpowerup's SSD database or NewMaxx's SSD Spreadsheet

Or just go stick with well known reputable models like the Crucial MX500

It is Patriot Burst 240GB.

I bought it on shopee. Ad says manufacturer warranty. But the packaging for the ssd does not have CUDO distributor sticker. I have bought many corsair stuff that has CUDO sticker. Will CUDO at Imbi entertain my RMA?  icon_question.gif

UPDATE1:
Sent to CUDO for warranty.

UPDATE2:
CUDO replaced Patriot Burst (with dram cache) with Patriot P210 (without dram cache).  ranting.gif

So i came across this situation where a PC will hang for unknown reasons. The PC has a kingtston A400 480GB installed in it, split into 2 partitions. The hard disk is 90% filled with OS, Apps & Data.

So decided to reduce the drive usage by moving out files until the SSD has about 60% used. The hang problem went away.

Ran Crystaldiskinfo and the disk is 97% healthy. 3 percent is problematic and is shown as bad blocks. So TRIM is working.

The next week i decided to try something. I created a 7% (34GB) Over Provisioning partition that does not have a drive letter assigned to it and labeled it OP.

I moved back all the files and filled the drive about 90% used capacity. And its already 2 weeks and the PC did not hang.

Summary is, TRIM works. But it will use space. And space does not magically appear. Creating a special partition to accommodate all these damaged blocks kind of makes sense why the PC did not hang.

Even Samsung drives offers this function for all their SSD drives for obvious reasons.

But this does not solve SATAFIRM issue where it is clearly hardware controller issue. Nothing to do with the NAND chips.
