anyone notice the sun is a bit different today? how do you take a picture of the sun using ordinary digicam?

i dunno much about it. u try n go out and have a look right now, it's still there. you'll get what i mean.
anyway, anyone knows how to take a pic? will it damage the camera's ccd?

it's hard to describe leh, some sort of large ring outside the sun. u try n have a look. the best if u have a film negative with u, look through with the film negative.

it appear that sign of lailatul qadar happened when the sun is pucat ( i guess )

first time, i see this "ring" was in my primary school, then i see this again for 2 ~ 3 times in my secondary school.
maybe i always look outside when teacher teaching whistling.gif

oh follow the photographer's idea la. let a tree or some objects obstruct the sun but not the halo. then u capture the pic smile.gif

As long as you can manually control the exposure (most likely with the help of aperture priority mode and the lowest ISO setting and maybe a ND filter), you should be able to get it.

The halo effect is due to ice crystals in the sky, when a very humid sky after a heavy rain suddenly gets cold and the vapours form into droplets which in turn gets frozen. The micro ice crystals then diffract light like how a rainbow is formed but either because they span a very wide area or that they are very high up (can't remember exactly the real reason), they appear as a halo to observers and not a rainbow.
