Actress Amelia Henderson has clarified that she was not involved in any “steamy” scenes in the horror flick Pulau, which has been panned by Malaysians for being inappropriate for public viewing.
Harian Metro reported that the 27-year-old star has urged the critics to understand her character in the movie.
“If you feel it’s inappropriate and don’t like it, don’t watch it,” she said.
Amelia explained that the “hot scenes” were not related to the storyline of her character.
“I was only focused on my character,” said the actress, who is of mixed Scottish and Malaysian Indian descent with Ceylonese ancestry.
Pulau recently gained attention for its racy trailer, which featured controversial social media influencer Ms PuiYi making out with a man as well as bikini-clad women.
The film, directed by Euho, has a line-up of actors and internet influencers such as Alif Satar, Ikmal Amry, Joey Leong, Harris Annuar, Evie Feroza, Namron, Mark O’Dea and Sabronzo Dolla.
It will be released in cinemas on March 9.
