Hi, can anyone tell me simple explanation about wifi router, mesh nodes, mesh routers. What is their difference

Really noob about it.

I want to renew my Time wifi plan, and to claim device (mesh nodes). But I’m not really sure what it’s function. Is it worthy to renew my plan to just get the device or just simply go buy it.

My house (apartment) have 3 bedroom, 700sqft. But the furthest bedroom can’t get the wifi. What should i do? The router is in the living room.

Simply put if u use this, the furthest room can get wifi coverage.

Its like a 2nd wifi router to extend the coverage, but u dont need to manually change from connecting to router 1 to router 2.

If u r ok with Time and dont mind renewing contract, go for it. But the mesh that u get isnt high end model.

old technology = wifi repeater
new technology = mesh wifi

the difference? ; wifi repeater looose half speed when you connected to it ; and very unreliable i.e when you move to another room, it still connect to the lousy signal

mesh is newer, it doesnt loose speed (in theory) , and always connect to strongest wifi signal

can you buy mesh outside? of coz

but if you NOT a technical person, i say get from TIME, they will help configure & troubleshoot your mesh problem (with a fee); else if you buy from shop ; you need be smart enough to do DIY

need your budget and how many mesh you need

min mesh 2 units ; max = unlimited

i would recommend 3 units mesh for best coverage

that would cost you min RM1k (3 units)

brand from TPlink ; Dlink would do

Look for WiFi 6 ;

TPlink Deco X20 (3pcs) -= RM1k

Dlink COVR-X1870 (4pcs) -= RM1k

You can also start with 2 pcs , !~RM600 and then extend from there

Note that above is ENTRY LEVEL WIFI 6 mesh ; suitable for general use at HOME

You want the best you need spend at least RM2k above

Some shops do provide installation, with a fee.

Not all mesh has dedicated 2nd 5GHz wifi for background transfer, therefore claiming that mesh dont lose speed is inaccurate.

Dont waste money first.

Get a 5-10M lan cable, connect it to your router (WAN) and modem (not sure time use which port). Then pull the router to the center of your house. Test the speed from each room. Your condo is just 700SQFT so there shouldn't be a need for high end router. What most people did wrong is placing the router in one corner of the house. Remember the wifi should be ideally placed in the center of the house.

For example, if you placed it in your living room, and there is two room behind the living room wall. The first room would still get pretty decent connection but the 2nd room further back might not get connection or does connect with very poor speed. That's because 5GHz wifi is really poor with wall penetration. Ideally you should try placing the router on the walkway ceiling, hence it would only need to penetrate 1 wall to reach each room.
