Youn intend to plant in a pot or ground ?

Both have different end results.

From my daily gardening and orchard experienced, having the same plant in.pot and ground will have different growth and shedding of leaves.

Sunlight and water are major 'nutrients' for plants and tress. Lack or more of either one or both will have different result.

When the growth reaches its peak and the roots unable to expand, the pot will eventually crack.

The more frequent you cut the branches, the faster it will grow new branches and the roots will expand faster.

Never plant trees indoor in the ground as the expanding roots can break the underground water and sewage pipe plus floor tiles.

Finally, do expect the wall and floor to get moldy faster in an enclosed environment.

All my fruits trees are in the orchard and I cant advise you on which tree species is suitable for courtyard but a visit to any garden nursery will have your questions answered.
