Hello, I'm deciding on buying the R1700BT, but then I notice there's actually another R1700BTs, can anyone tell me what's the difference, and if there is a difference, which should I go for ? My main priority is just to listen to music and movies, more on music.

I don't know if I need one, do I need subwoofer ? I'm totally new to all these audio stuff, been only using those very cheap Salpido brand speakers.

I'm guessing most ordinary people who's main focus is to listen to music will never ever need a subwoofer, right ? After googling it seems like subwoofer is for studios and some high end stuff.

I see, yeah I think the BT will do for now, it's already a very very huge upgrade from what I'm using, and I guess I won't be able to tell the difference with or without a sub.

I've watched some youtube reviews about the 1700BT, does it really produce great audio like they mentioned ? Everyone is saying 1700BT is really one of the best budget speakers we can get.

R1700BT only has controller for on/off, mute, High/low Volume, Bluetooth Enable, LINEIN selection
R1700BTs has extra Bluetooth controller...where you can control back and forward while playing music.

For me, i just norm use for my laptop and Gaming....R1700BT is good for me...Bass okay also, hvnt has the chance to go for Full blast in my house yet
I dont have music to play on also...
I bought it on a very good discount on web. RM300 or lower...cant rmb...serve me well for few years already

There is 1 comment on the web did say R1700BTs has slightly better sound quality.

As for subwoofer... do we really need them before we know what is loud music? R1700BT is good for entry and mid level....you can start with this before go in with your big buck thou

I can definitely tell it will. My current one is those that you can buy at pasar malam or some PC stores that put on display. Can't wait to be able to hear real music quality audio

I see, thanks a lot for the input. I decided to go with 1700BT, it's definitely more than enough for me, even in the long run.

I see, then I don't think I'll ever need one. According to many youtubers review on the r1700bt, it itself is already more than good enough to listen to any music. Considering I'm not any kind of audiophiles, don't think I'll ever need or appreciate the difference of a sub.

You can easily test the Edifiers (R1280 or R1700 series) at computer or IT shops but problem is that the environment is noisy. Or you could head to techx (google it) in PJ to audition some Hivi speakers, some below RM500. I end up not getting from them but had a good experience auditioning their various speakers..

To add, I'm sure if your budget is let's say RM500, the Edifiers would have a much louder bass than the Hivi/Swan speakers which will be quite good for movies.

Anyway, you didn't state your budget.

Sorry, my budget is around 600+, I live in JB so PJ is out of my option.

I would go to IT shop to test the speakers soon, but I doubt it will be at it's fullest potential as you said, it's noisy. My budget is around 600++ so I guess R1700BT would be the best speakers I can get ?

for me la, my r2000db can go until 55-60hz audible bass in my small room only, infront of me. i placed those speakers as a desktop speakers. the bass definitely doesnt hit low enough. its not the bass not loud enuf. it doesnt hit low enuf. so i got a edifier t5 sub for 450+ during 2021 11.11 promo.

if you have a decent pair of earphones, u will notice the difference in bass u hear from earphones vs the speakers bcos earphones can easily go low frequencies, 20-30hz u can hear. not the same case for r1700 bcos the driver and speaker enclosure small.

even if your speakers dun have sub out, u can still use t5 rca out connect to your speaker rca in. still, the r1700bts would be better as both speaker and sub would sync better compared to the 1st method i mentioned.

but! if the type of music u listen is not bassy, like jazz/classical, then r1700 should fit your needs. no need spend lots of money on a big speaker, or a subwoofer.

some would say the t5 is trash etc.... it is already very good for me. at this price point, it is the most reliable and cheap sub u can get compared to those elcheapo unbranded chinese sub.

i am very satisfied with the t5 performance.
