Trying to work out some of the key feng shui ID which should be fundamentally similar for high rise since the layouts are all so generic nowadays.

1. If entrance looks straight into balcony, put up a partition or something to obstruct the direct path.

2. Sink should not be directly opposite stove. If it is, put in some kind of rug? (Not sure about this one)

3. Whatever quadrant of bagua you’re missing in the layout, you double up on the elements in your decor.

4. Don’t use blue colour or water features in your bedrooms?

5. Don’t have mirror facing entrances or the bed. Conversely, have a mirror reflecting your dining table.

6. Don’t have doors facing each other or the toilet. Fixable with crystals etc?

7. Always adopt command position layout for beds and desks.

8. I see some dispute about having ceiling fans in your bedroom but it’s not possible not to have them in our climate.

9. Use high energy art work in corridors and hallways.

Any other common issues that others are aware of?

Feng Shui is Useless in HighRise.

Unless you are surrounded by Good FengShui Setup Unit/People entire building.
High Density always = Bad Fengshui....

It’s still big business in SG and HK.

Take control of what you can and not rue what you can’t fix.

Nonetheless I don’t believe in being slavish to anything. But some of the basic principles are widely adopted in ID anyway. You’re gonna spend the money anyhow so why not just do an additional layer of assurance. The whole philosophy of good energy flow is almost universal and is now even big business in Western markets.

Aduh. Getting completely off track. All I’m saying is one has to furnish their unit anyway so all I’m pointing out is that there are minor things you can do with an eye towards feng shui compliance. It’s an additional tick on a checklist for those who are so inclined.

my condo have few owners hire feng shui sifu as an "ID" though

they just have to plan according to the feng shui advice (paint, placement, hacking, etc)

Thanks. I’m just looking to compile some tips of common layout things like not having your bed face the door for example.

If one really study Feng shui… it is not buying some crystal or trinket to counter things.

A lot of it is common sense and logic. Such as don’t sleep facing a mirror, don’t use a glass table/desk.

Most of it can be DIY if you do your own research.

Exactly I’m looking at it from the more superficial ID angle to promote energy flow and to have vitality in the space rather than the full on superstitious mumbo jumbo.

No 1 is true coz my master ask me to install a partition to block the direct look from the main door staright to the balcony.
According to him, the fortune and good luck will flow direct out when you come in from the main door.
Worse if your balcony face a highway or main road, that one like a smooth flow of chi.

No 8 my master suggest wall fan or stand Portable Air Conditioner. One is like a knife direct facing you on daily basis and 2nd is due to the dust from the fan will flow direct to you when you sleep. Health hazard

Yea the idea is to create walk ways that flow around the whole place. If you see enough ID, you get an idea of commonly done Feng Shui compliant designs that are simple and inexpensive.

Honestly a lot of sensible Feng shui principles come down to 3 things:

1) Flow - of air, of movement, of activity, of temperature.

2) Lighting - deciding how much light you need at what areas and what time

3) Public vs private - proper partitioning and positioning of walls/furniture to ensure areas of rest and areas of activity are clearly differentiated

Everything else like flying stars, symbols of luck etc. are mostly superstition IMO

Something like brutalist or industrial design, basic fengshui people will hate 🤣🤣 all the open shelving and exposed raw materials

Bear in mind a lot of trad feng shui teachings are very much influenced by weather (North = cold, South = warm, making sure you're not exposed to cold winter wind or hot summer sun etc.) and culture (cooking is dirty/messy etc.)

The local feng shui masters are damn predatory. Pretty much told my friend their brand new 1500 sqft condo is a harbinger of doom. And the recommendations were so impractical and expensive like reorienting an entire bathroom.

Different feng shui masters have different rules and what not when it comes to this, except for a few generally common ones. Also what may apply to more older or traditional houses may not be applicable anymore to modern houses

In the end do remember feng shui is just a guideline. It is not supposed to bring you any stress. If can follow by all means go for it but if its not possible, then move on and dont think too much about it. The more you stress about such petty matters of course there would be negative emergy and bad things would happen

This is one good article to read. Regarding kitchen

It’s a hard one and a real test on your belief system when an authority figure effectively tells you your family will be afflicted by disease, marriage breakdown, career go nowhere etc. if enough people repeat this nonsense then it can really impact a property’s value.
