cant really compare giant to jaya, jaya is too high keras for most...

giant equivalent should be lotus

Giant before it was acquired by Dairy farms was a family-run business, the same family who started TMC in Bangsar......

IIRC, once they sold giant, they went and open Jaya Grocer and Hero market...

the Teng family...

They would probably open a new supermarket once one grab fucks up jaya........who knows. Big and rich doesn't mean good in market retail

The fact that the tengs kept on opening new supermarkets after selling their established supermarket chains demonstrates something......even carrefour came and left and tesco became whatever it is now....seems like there's some secret sauce somewhere

Why not, they are good in what they do......probably have network of suppliers over the years, who to source from and who not to source from. Trade secrets......

Probably.....why call attention to yourself when people can dengki over it........remember, it pays to be successful in msia, just don't be too successful or it will attract attention from certain parties.

Giant become Tiny.
Jaya Grocer soon become average Mahrehsian shopping place.

Probably.........I have no idea why Grab would want to buy a grocery chain. If they are thinking to be like Amazon, they better make sure they know what they are doing...in as much as there's a lot of tech and UX around the preposition, they must not forget that a big part of grocery retail is the supply chain and while it worked in the US, it may not work in msia.....simply because americans eat processed foods, coming from the 3-4 food major food brands in the US.......msian still need the sayur, fruits, meats, asian stuff.....and this part of the products and supply are locally sourced, very easy to fuck this up if your good suppliers are chinaman companies still running on windows XP or vista.....

im toking jaya grocer and village grocer here for atas people shopping. aeon is a level below. i cant imagine anything higher class than this, but then again the top elite will always have other people to do their shopping anyway, they can source it from anywhere.

the jaya grocer in lalaport has quite a crowd inside buying
even i bought something there
from fruit to sauce
i just bought apples there...RM2.1 each...outside sell RM10 for 4-6, sounds reasonable to me
