I'm looking into buying a low budget 4K TV, I have narrow it down to TCL C635 (~RM2000) and Hisense U7H (~RM2500). What are your tots? Sony X85K (~RM3500) also looks pretty decent, but its a but more expensive tho. Not sure its worth the extra 1k-ish. Feel free to suggest any good TVs too. I will be using it to watch movies and play games. Also ill probably not going to invest in any soundbars, so which of these TVs have better built in sound system?

Asking here because apparently for different regions, the TCL and Hisense are built differently too, eventho theyre the same model (correct me if im wrong). So i guess online reviews wont do me much justice.

Thanks kings.

Sound quality is part and parcel of the whole entertainment package.

I suggest no matter what TV you are getting, please get dedicated speakers and don't even consider a soundbar. Even the Edifier R1280 will suffice and it is only RM400-ish

I would recommend to go for Hisense U7H, got a lot of good reviews around the net and the warranty if not mistaken is 3 years if buy from retail shops.

My home got 1 85" A7H Hisense, been using it a month now. Migrating from Sony to Hisense, if want near to original color do set the color to Movie/Cinema night mode and ON the Motion Enhance settings (play with different options) to reduce the judder effects.
Sold!
But i heard that some TV models (although the model number/name are the same) are built differently depending on the region (For example TCL TVs in North America, they have R635 model, which uses Mini LED as compared to the ones we have in Malaysia, C635, which uses Direct LED). Is that applicable for Hisense too? Particularly the U7H model.

if not mistaken the malaysia version of A7h is not uled/qled. its just normal 4k smart tv. please check the official malaysia website for verification
tcl c635 is different from us r635. hence u notice the different letter C vs R? as far as i know theres only 1 type of c635 being reviewed in google and youtube and its the same version we are getting in malaysia

Yeah but the reviews on c635 weren't very in-depth. I mean the specs looks good but idk how the real performance stack up against U7H. Im going to assume the U7H we are getting in malaysia performs as just good as the ones in america, which actually looks pretty decent. It was rated higher than sony X85K (According to rtings.com)

Jonni What did you get in the end?

I'm now also in the same dilemma deciding between the Hisense U7H vs TCL C635 laugh.gif

Apparently, Hisense is using FALD while the TCL is using micro dimming. Not sure which is better as my priorities is to get the deepest blacks)

The TCL is about RM800 ish cheaper than the Hisense after store & shopee discounts

Update: Read about the Hisense U7H from another thread that it's an IPS... not VA and has significantly less dimming zones compared to the US version which is far superior..

I went for the Hisense U7H. Overall its a good purchase. I wouldn't know how it compares to the C635, and if its worth the 800bucks upgrade. The image quality on the u7h is superb. I used to own an LG BX, and I can confidently say that without putting it side by side, u probably wont noticed the difference when watching a movie tongue.gif (im not an displayphile anyway).

However, the local dimming is poor, especially when its dark. You can really see the blooming around bright areas. TV claim to be atmos but sound is mediocre. But I guess those are something I would have expected.

Some functionality flaws that I find a bit disappointing is when u turn on the ultra smooth motion, u can see like the video kinda stuttered sometimes. Im not really too bothered about it because normally i would just set them off because movies loses its magic once it runs 60fps. Some other things is that when I watch netflix, the subtitles suddenly went off script, but good thing it corrected itself back after a couple of seconds. and u probably already knew this but they dont have disney+ in their system.

Overall, for the price tag, u cant really complain. i think for that price range its already exceeded my expectations. I cant comment on c635, but i guess the rule of thumb in most cases is that the more expensive the better.

idk how to edit my replies but i think saying that it exceeded my expectation seems a bit exaggerated, but its definitely a good value given what the TV is packing. Not great but very much decent.
