Hi guys,
my office LAN is hosting this SQL accounting software.
Everytime I want to check something, I have to use anydesk or teamviewer to control another desktop within the LAN.

Is it possible for me to use my PC to connect via internet to my office's LAN so I can access the shared database of the SQL accounting?

I found a guide that teach using OpenVPN to connect to home server.
so the logic is, every time I connected to my office vpn from outside, my connection would divert to my office before going to internet?
i.e. if I connected to vpn, my internet IP would be that of my office internet IP. is that correct?

sorry still new with networking

Yes,normally if you connect to the vpn, then all of your traffic will be go through your vpn server network.
(There is some way to setup for only route some traffic only, but normally if you need vpn usage, then better all route with vpn to prevent traffic leak)
And when u not needed for vpn, just disable it and your device will route with original or normal route.

Your office doesn't have dedicated firewall device?
Most dedicated firewall device has built-in VPN

1. If you want to have more control on security and privacy, replace that TM router with router that come with built in VPN support. This is the best option for your case. Example: Asus router
2. Or you can use below services to securely access your server (just be minded that your traffic might be traversing their infrastructure):
https://www.zerotier.com/
https://portmap.io/

You can register zerotier .. First time configure a network on the zerotier website,

Choose a virtual ip address range.

Then install zerotier client on the sql main pc. Login and right click on the zerotier icon next to the clock. Select join network. ( this will assign a "virtual ip address "to your pc.
Go to zerotier website and authorize the device.

This will enables other pc outside of your company who also installs zerotier client and join to the same network can use the resources of your pc,

Then outside your company, install zerotier on the pc, then same method you right click and join network. Then in the zerotier website, you authorise the device, so that this pc also connect to the same virtual network.

You can see on the zerotier website which pc is assigned to which ip. Example 192.xxx.xxxx.xxx or etc.

Then from outside company pc or any devices that u have already installed zerotier client, joined network and authorised, that you wish to use sql, just access to the virtual ip address, then you are good to go.
