Hi all, I'm thinking if want to share wifi with neighbor who is probably like a few houses away from the same road, is it possible to beam the wifi signal and share wifi connection?
Anyone got such experience and also will the connection be stable and also have good ping?

thanks!

Point to Point

If got line of sight no issue ( nothing blocking )

Also from point A what is the speed

The hardware choose will use 5gh spectrum and what kind of throughput do you want to share with B

Also consider gigabit LAN ( Cat 6 )

Internal AP in point B

If you're based in KL @ Selangor i can quote you :-)

The signal won't be stable.

It would be cheaper and faster to just pull fiber cable between 2 houses. Just encased the cable inside a water pipe and mount it inside the longkang.

If you at your home second floor can see your neighbor house second floor wall or any place that can install Outdoor AP with direct vision(without any blocking),then a decent Point to Point Outdoor AP set should be okay.

Someone reported this post as illegal. Is it illegal for this topic? Sharing wifi is now illegal?

You would breach the service agreement. TM could blacklist you and/or sue you in civil court.
Is it illegal? Nah... mcmc or police won't bother.
I assume you already understand the risk of sharing as the router ip is ties to the subscriber account.

If you worried about illegal equipment used, a simple 2 mesh nodes setup outside with LOS should work.
Just be creative a bit... LOL smile.gif

Pulling fiber cable between the 2 houses will provide a much more stable connection
You just have to find a way to route & hide the fiber cable properly. Preferably inside the longkang protected with a PVC pipe

You'll need 2 units of Fiber to Ethernet converter, 1 for each house like this:

You also need SC to SC fiber cable to connect the 2 Fiber to Ethernet converter like the image below

Then install another router at the second house so they can have their own Wi-Fi
