Hello, I got an oven that comes without plug. Manual says direct wiring required.
How do I connect it to the grid?
1) can I attach a 15amp round pin plug and install a 15amp 3pin socket wired to a 20a switch? Breaker rating is 240v 20amp, oven power is 3650w. By calculation the amp draw is 15.2amp already, can I do it this way?
Or
2) direct connect the oven cable to 20a switch via a junction box? But I don't know how to look for the junction box
Please help, I scare the power draw too high and cable or plug melt.

QUOTE(acbc @ Dec 29 2022, 01:25 PM) Direct means straight to DB. No plug or socket. Since the oven is 15.2A, cannot use socket or plug lor. Confirm sure melt. The 20A switch is ok but is the wiring at least 4mm? Standard power socket is 2.5mm. Lighting is 1.5mm. What is DB? I still need a switch to toggle power isnt it? I suppose its 4mm, did new wiring job during renovation with emphasis of that socket for oven.

QUOTE(JasonTheGreat @ Dec 29 2022, 01:26 PM) Same. I just wired my 3.6kwh oven. Initially wanna get 15A plug. Read it’s not safe. The I DIY get a 2 pole switch. Wired the oven to the switch then to the mains. You mean the switch with the light indicator usually use for water heater and aircond? Like this? Attached thumbnail(s)

QUOTE(lowyat101 @ Dec 29 2022, 05:15 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « for 3650W, i'll go for a 20A circuit, with minimum 4mm cable size. you can use a 20A isolator I do not know what is the switch in circuit breaker called, that is 20A. Rather than using a 20A switch (those used for water heater, aircond) you suggest me to wire the oven to this isolator and then to circuit breaker? Attached thumbnail(s)

QUOTE(JasonTheGreat @ Dec 29 2022, 08:32 PM) Yes the switch with red led. But get a 2 pole one. So when off, both contacts are disconnected. I just use 2.5mm cable 3g2.5mm2 cable, the black one or grey? That cable is huge. The original cable with the oven is only 3g1.5mm2. If that is the case I need to get a replacement cable of 2m long to rewire oven to the switch. Or can I do this? DB > 2pole 20a > 1pole 20a > oven If like this I just replace the top switch to 2pole and move it to bottom, and connect the current cable to bottom switch. Attached thumbnail(s)
