Thinking to either replace the battery on my iPad Pro 10.5 (2017) or get a new iPad if it's not worth replacing it but checking the price around to replace the battery is around RM500+, which would be better choice?

yea actually waited for this new 2022 iPad pro but somehow the spec bumps weren't anything great except for the M2.

Was looking to see if atleast got the USB-C.

Not sure if I should wait for 2023's version since EU forced Apple to start going USB-C on their devices.

Surprisingly the 10.5 still works like Day 1 I bought it, no lag & no issue running any of the apps. Still buttery smooth, the 4 speakers are great.

The only thing is the battery has weaken which is normal. It's not to the point of "Omg the device only last for 5 mins". Probably just losing charge a little faster than when it was new.

Should be able to settle below RM 100 lol.

You may refer to my service notice board for the list of insurance company that I have if you're seeking for advise. Have a long list of it so it's not limited to these 2 that you've mentioned smile.gif

Nice, seems like you're experience in this.

Just wondering if I replace the battery with these "brands", will they be as reliable as the original iPad's battery since they're not Apple original.

That's the thing,

Battery quality varies greatly especially not original.

I specifically mentioned cellcare or miifix, there are some others that are decent too.

Bad battery quality usually you cant see battery health, also battery heat up fast and bottle neck like crazy, also lifespan is pretty bad.

you can easily search cellcare in lowyat, many recommended it before,

Cellcare and miifix is same store btw.

For reviews just check shopee on cellcare, they sell spare parts there.

P.S : im not gaining any profit, just a diy phone repair lol. Personally bought over 10 batteries and screen from them, problems are usually minimal or none.

If you're in Subang, can try B & S Spare parts @ square. If it's battery only ok, other issue he might cut throat you and say motherboard issue or sth.

RM500 is way too expensive for a battery. For sure can find cheaper alternative but apple is very anal about non original parts. If Samsung or Huawei then ok but Apple maybe get complications later.

Trade in and get new better.

if iPad is for ur work which means it will be long term, since 2017 - 2022 is 5 years apart already.
You might need to think about the APP support in future, some app might not be able to run if the new IOS is not support for older version of iPad. Well you still can purchase at that time when it is not support anymore, since you mentioned it is still buttery smooth.

Worth upgrade or not, nv used prev M1 before. But I would say you better go test it for urself on the new M2 iPad

You're right. the reason for the purchase is also for accounting purpose to replace the old device for tax biggrin.gif.

Will try it out at the apple store.

I think only singapore has original apple battery replacement by apple, i dont think malaysia has replacement for ipad yet. If you are paying rm500, make sure its truely genuine.
If got malaysia link please share tyvm.

BTW sg link for apple estimation cost: https://support.apple.com/en-sg/ipad/repair
