I am having monkey issue so fibre optic will not last me 2 week before the monkey pull it down. Anyway now my only option its wireless and since my area has 5G network. I currently got a 5G sim card from UNIFI and i test the download speed on my S22 ultra , i get download speed between 250mbps to 300mbps. i am thinking if i can get a 5G router which can provide the a speed of 100mbps , i will be happy with it.

I recently bought a shopee RM200 PCE Pro (Huawei COPY) which able to get 20MBPS maxis and Unifi around 12mbps and Digi 8mbps. Now i am looking for proper 5G router, does anyone has any experience.

NOTE: Maxis Prepaid Unlimited RM60, i am able to test download speed on maxis website 20mbps BUT unable to watch youtube or browse website, its SUPER SLOW. Maxis Post paid has no issue on my COPY CPE PRO 4G LTE router.

actually ppl with fibre would had prefer fibre if possible.
5G router when now 5G not even popularized, u can look for yes so called "5G fibre" with contract can get 5G router for fibre. 5G is all under DNB, so I would think that all telco also similar performance. Any sifu can correct me if I am wrong
If 4g best ones can look for huawei B618 and B818 they have quite some discussion on lowyat here

I will try to stay away with YTL network contract. anyone whom has TRY YTL P1 network will know that YTL ONLY provide shit low quality service n tie you up with the contract n u are force to pay FULL event they provide you SHIT service. YTL normal will provide you one or 2 week trail period with free return. Their service will be BEST during trail period BUT when each month passed, their service its terrible to MAX n customer service cant do anything. so yeah anything to do with YTL better think twice.

Anyway since new 5G its under DNB maybe its different BUT i believe bandwidth control its still handle by YTL. I worry YTL with control or limit the download.

got myself a ZTE CPE MC7010 out door modem using Unifi sim card. Setup the modem to gain FULL Bar signal (Perfect signal). When power or restart i am able to get 800 mbps BUT after 30 minute my MAX download ONLY Below 150 Mbps. I think unifi has throttle download control.

For pure 5G connectivity, other than Netgear I'm not sure what other vendors provide 5G portable modems, the models are Netgear Nighthawk M5/M6, both are 5G and WiFi 6 capable portable routers. Other than that almost all the ones that is on Shopee is just normal 4G WiFi 5(?) routers and/or modems with TTL changed to bypass hotspot caps

I don't think so cause once I restart the router it's has pure 5G speed only after few minutes back to 120mbps. I think the system detect its a modem NOT HP that cap it to q120mbps lime Yes 5G offer.

too bad to hear that but not surprise as we already know all malaysia telcos are notorious with speed and/or quota cap.

Recently sign up umob ultra hotspot package and been using a 5G phone with USB tethering. Can reach 100mbps via the wifi mesh.

Tested on the 5G phone, it could reach 500mpbs, but wonder if it's worth to get a dedicated 5G router like CPE Pro 2 which cost 1k+ with the risk of throttled?

That copy clone of Huawei now lots of advertising as if it's 5G capable. 5G routers are not cheap. At min 700+ most are over 1k. Lazada/Shopee has too many that RM200 router.

Good 4G routers are Huawei 618/818 models. I have one of those unless recently Digi upgrade your area 4G you can't get high speed with it too if signal is bad and too many customers. I was getting under 20Mb until sometime mid last year when they finally upgraded my area 4G. Now if I get good ip I get 40-80Mb speed.

5G seems to hard to penetrate our houses/buildings. Likely need external antenna to get 5G signal. Maybe some 5G routers include those. My area has some 5G signal 300~400Mb speed outside and inside if I am very near my window 150Mb speed a meter away signal is gone.

Edit typo

for 4G, if your area have B28 band, just lock it. it might give u better speed than congested CA B1+B3+B7

Unfortunately just tested B28 band signal is Avg RSRP / Avg RSRQ / Poor SINR. I can get Excellent RSRP / Good/AVG RSRP / Avg/Poor SINR on B1 B3 B7 bands so just B28 gave me 1/3 speed compare to them.

not sure the hotspot valid for how long. just wait when the official telco free 5g trail by dnb ends.. then only decide.

if orignal stock, scare u cant find any suitabel 5g plan to use in modem as they might limitation on hotspot.

if getting those oem brand 5g support, top speed i think hardly go above 500mbps.

i see.

how's your speed when 3CA B1+B3+B7 vs 2CA B1+B3 / B1+B7 / B3+B7?
sometimes when 2CA gives better latency than 3CA, but most of the time 3CA have higher speed.

Right now 3 Band I am getting 46Mbps. B1+B3 31Mbps B3+B7 46Mbps. B1+B7 can't be locked it will jump to B3+B7. B1 alone has signal. Just B1 I am able get 31Mbps. Now peak hour my SINR is towards 0db~2db lol. When they first upgrade my area signal was a bit better now it's deteriorate a bit.

Issue I have is nowadays Digi getting congested again over here and some of the IPs if slow you reset you might better or worse speed. Wee hours in morning test sometimes I hit 60~90Mb speedtest and signal can improve till Excellent RSRP Good RSRQ Poor/Avg SINR. Atm not worth for me getting 5G router unless price drops a bit more as good ones seems pretty expensive.
