korang kena paham, when we say "average inflation is ~4%", three very important things:1) 4% is the inflation of a selected basket of goods by MOF; doesn't at all apply to all items. Mcd Sundae is not on the list.
2) 4% is the average of the selected basket of goods. so if say kangkung no change but timun up 10%, average the two it becomes 5%. this basket of goods includes things like housing, petrol, cars, consumer electronics like washing machine and laptop. so huge noticeable increases in 1 sector can be balanced out by 0 movement or even deflation in another sector. consider thumbdrives: 256mb used ot be RM200 or more when it first came out, remember? now 32GB is what, Rm50? this huge drop in price, believe me, is averaged out by increases elsewhere.
3a) last but not least, which average figure is being used? average of the past 3 months, 1 year, 20 years annualised? 4% per annum inflation over 20 years means at the end of 20 years a Rm1 Sundae Cone is now Rm2.19. 3b) furthermore, as you may have noticed, the price doesn't tambah 5 sen every year on year. Rather, it remains steady for a few years then price is increased in 1 big step, usually in response to economic contractions or recessions.
this is how the economy truly works. not whatever cock made up conspiracy story most people believe. fairly basic knowledge but nobody cares...

as this guy says, Sundae Cone is Rm1 since year 2000at a rate of 4% pa, 2 years ago (2020) it should have hit Rm2.19, theoretically
arguably Mcd is giving us a discounted product, compared to general inflation. fact is that Sundae Cone is actually a loss leader.
